They are resellers for Melbourne IT but, from my experience, the Yahoo-Melbourne link is delayed & not real time. TheTop 01-18-2007, 09:11 PM well also discount is for new customers and for 1st year only ... they pulling a godaddy type deal here webster13045 01-18-2007, 09:20 PM looking fer registers that accept paypal besides godaddy dont like godaddy webster13045 01-18-2007, 10:53 PM just woundering but what would happen if i registerd a domain like lets say mydomain.com and someone else has mydomain.net registerd? rllunzmann 01-19-2007, 02:46 PM $1.99 is an intro price for the first year, then its 9.99/yr I use them as well for some domains, no compliants. stub 01-19-2007, 10:56 PM Just think about it for a moment. Yah Hoooo! Would anyone want to entrust their domains to such a hilariously named enterprise? The name itself implies they don't take themselves that seriously. Would you entrust your domains to somebody named giggles.com? $1.99 is a promo joke. They lose money on every domain registration but they cream it back from you by their over inflated prices for any of the add-on services they expect to sell you along with the domain registration. So you say to yourself "I'm not falling for that bait 'n switch tactic, I'll register my domain there for $1.99 and transfer it to another (cheaper) registrar". HAH! Just try it. It's not impossible, but it's about 50 times harder than a transfer out of 1and1. It's easier just to go register the domain at a proper registrar for sub-$10 from the get-go. Support is non-existant. Having said all that, I have the utmost respect for Yahoo as a company. Their branding is excellent. I like their services, but for domain registrations, they suck, BIG TIME. This is probably my last word on this subject, maybe :) Techno 01-19-2007, 11:24 PM Just think about it for a moment. Yah Hoooo! Would anyone want to entrust their domains to such a hilariously named enterprise? The name itself implies they don't take themselves that seriously. Many entrust their names to hilariously named GoDaddy and TuCows. :D Gamik 01-19-2007, 11:49 PM looking fer registers that accept paypal besides godaddy dont like godaddy Try Dynadot.com. The Stealthy One 01-20-2007, 05:07 PM I have used Yahoo! Domains. While the service, and pricing, is nice, there are a few problems: 1. Support is very hard to reach 2. Domain control panel is non-comprehensive, and very basic 3. Transferring from Yahoo! to another registrar is pretty close to impossible jlinny 01-20-2007, 09:34 PM I have used Yahoo! Domains. While the service, and pricing, is nice, there are a few problems: 1. Support is very hard to reach 2. Domain control panel is non-comprehensive, and very basic 3. Transferring from Yahoo! to another registrar is pretty close to impossible I would stick with godaddy.com or a good hosting such as 1and1.com. webster13045 01-22-2007, 03:17 PM and i should have listen omg i have not yet been able to change name servers i emailed i have to wait 24 hours for a reply i call they just give me lines of crap and now i cant move the domain for 45 days so i may as well just go ahead and register a different one BobBarato 01-22-2007, 08:06 PM Man, now I am tempted to reg an ironic name like "LetGoMyEggo.com" or "PleaseReleaseMe.com" or "YahooIsAttica.net" at Yahoo and then document what the transfer process is like and have some fun with it. (yeah strange idea of fun I know) Also, I wonder if transfers will become easier after a few years and Yahoo has recovered their lossleader investment with the $10/yr renewals. <shrugs> BB Buddha 01-30-2007, 02:26 PM looking fer registers that accept paypal besides godaddy dont like godaddy Dotster also accepts PayPal. stub 01-30-2007, 05:32 PM Most registrars accept paypal these days.
