Tyan Tiger MP S2460
or
MSI K7D

I'm buiding some servers using Dual Athlon MP
Thank you very much.

Why is it better? Have you had any experience with it?
Yup, no doubt they are slightly more expensive, but youre paying for quality.

We use msi boards and have never had a problem with them... They are great.

The Tyan board is superior. MSI has a track record of boards inexplicably failing after a year. Furthermore, the Tyan board has marginally better PCI performance, which can be crucial in server applications. Finally, Tyan has a solid track record as a reputable supplier of fail-safe mainboards--as strong as Supermicro's, without a doubt. In the server market, it really isn't a good idea to take such a chance as choosing MSI.

My vote goes to Tyan! Have real life experience with Tyan motherboards and not a bad comment :)

By the way, you may want to consider the Iwill MPX2 instead. It offers outstanding performance and a vast suite of options for customization in the BIOS. It's rock solid as well.

Hi,
Most likely neither. What kind of case were you planning to put it in? A 1U or 2U rackmount, or a desktop? Since you're posting on a hosting board, I guess a rackmount for hosting. In that case, be aware of heat issues due to the dual AMD CPUs.
Would refer you to an Appro brand rackmount server if you want an AMD mobo in a server box -- they do cooling well -- and then getting a Tyan Thunder rather than the Tiger board would be even better.
Moreover, I think the top three server board vendors are Intel, Supermicro and Tyan.
As much as I like AMD and have it on my desktop, for a server right now if you want to keep the cost down, consider a Tualatin Intel P3 with 512 cach on a motherboard made by one of the three companies above.
If you're wanting a dual CPU system, check out the motherboard forum at 2cpu.com.
I know it really wasn't what you were asking about, buy hope the above helps.
Best wishes,
Louis
