How do you make your site get ranked ahead of the site already appearing on search engines when searching for a keyword?

I have meta tags...What else is there I can do? I've submitted to most of the search engines.."add url"..

I was wondering, if you guys could kindly suggest anything to increase my spot in the search engines. Thanks...

Are there any meta tags I'm missing? This is what I have between the <head> and </head> Have I made any mistakes or left anything out? Thanks for you help in advance.

There's a lot of information, and misinformation, about this topic, even whole forums devoted to it. You may find the information at http://websnapshot.mycomputer.com/finding.html and http://websnapshot.mycomputer.com/searchengines.html helpful in evaluating which search engines to optimize for. There are different methods and some don't even use meta tags, much less all the ones you have.

In addition to all the technical information you will discover, a bit of magic and prayer might help as well.
