View Full Version : abcde webhosting.com or --webhost.com OR simply abcdehost.com as my company name?

i felt abcde (the letters do NOT obviously represent my webhosting company name)

my choices were: as described above in the title.

as such my company name is 5 alphabets, adding a webhosting next to it seemed to long to me.

I then thought of just adding webhost but that did not look that better either,

so i was thinking why not just add abcedhost.com , i guess sort of simillar to hostgator.com BUT mine would be abcdehost.com

your opinion is very much apprecited

thanks

I would stay away from using "host" in your company/domain name - it just seems overused.

i would just have chosen abcde.com -- but that name has be registered already.

I am however registering abcde technologies, LLC as the parent company with my webhosting company as DBA,

i dont seem to have many options other than using host as part of my hosting company .

any other suggestion anyone?

thanks

Since your registered company will be abcde technologies, LLC, how about abcdetech.com?

Also I see nothing wrong with using "host" or "hosting" within your domain name. It can help with SEO ranking for your keywords.

abcdetech.com -- did cross my mind.

for some reason i went with abcdeHOST since host was more suitable to the hosting biz rather than "tech"

to use tech OR to use host is now the question?

tech does not quite seem compatable with web hosting ?

i would like your opinion again as well as others as to the above question.

has anyone seen using tech in their hosting biz name?

Layeredtech didnt call themselves layeredhost did they ;)

Softlayer called them self softLAYER not softhost ;)

You dont have to use host in your name and it seems overused and boring

Get yourself a catchy name

very good point -- thanks for your input

Maybe i can just use my ebcde technologies LLC as my primary company and simply get the abcdetech as my hosting company. --- In this case, in MY case it will limit my parent company primary to hosting, in case i ever want to expand ----- i seriously dont know what in the future .

Maybe i was just getting myself into additional paperwork for creating a DBA just for wanting a abcdeHOST as my company name.

i will need to give it some more thought

thanks

If i have abcde technologies LLC, can i buy a domain say abcdetech.com and operate under it?

OR do i have to register abcdtech.com as a DBA and operate under it?

THANKS

Word of advice. If you are going to go with (something)host.com - get the (something)hosting.com as well. You would be surprised at how many well meaning people refer their friends to (ourname)ing.com .

Tina, since you mentioned it, this seems like a good time to ask.....

Why did you not do that, TWICE ? first with affordable, then with axis?

I have a name put aside now with that situation; having the ***host.com name without having the ***hosting.com name. (the ***host name fits a niche market very well)

Because I was stupid the first time, with affordable. The second time, it wasn't available.

the second time, why didn't you choose some name where both were available? iirc, you bought that brand. but if you were starting over anyway,.......

Funny story, maybe. I actually bought the domain axishost for the sole purpose of selling just the domain here here, years and years ago. I used to search deleteddomains.com for "host" names and then sell them here for a profit. I sold the axishost domain name to someone, he built it up as a hosting company and then I ended up buying the domain and all of his clients from him a few years later.

We actually didn't "start over" with Axishost. We ran both affordable and axis for about 2 years side-by-side. We had built up Axis to have a pretty good reputation by the time we started using it as our primary brand.

Anyway...not having the 'ing.com' was just a minor irritation, I suppose. I've been searching, for years, for just the right domain name to switch to. In the meantime, Axishost will do I suppose. :D

ok. I'm glad it wasn't just because it matched your WHT name. :D

Haha...that's actually leftover from the affordable days!!! :D

It takes a surprisingly long time to get a really good name. I've probably lost so many hours of productivity trying to think of good, unique names. :s

Another way to think of domain names- With so many hosting companies out there with the words host, hosting, tech, ect. in their domain names, do they all start look the same? Although they are good for SEO, you could also think about a branded name. One that is different, one that is short and stands out, one that people will remember.
