I've been pondering writing an RFC to deprecate pop-up ads... I think that Gator just might burn.

Well, I don't know who *should* win, but as a webmaster who is a potential victim of all these pop-ups being displayed when people are viewing my site, I know whose side I'm on! :)

I think gator is in the wrong and deserves to be sued. Putting ads ontop of another site that you dont own is just wrong.

My friend had a problem with his computer, when he went to my hosting page he noticed that every time the word hosting came up on my site it was highlighted in yellow and linked to a diffrent hosting company. Come to find out later that some how a piece of software got installed on his computer that was doing this... Still we have no idea how this software got there.

The way they operate just doesn't seem ethical.

I agree - real unethical business model. Hope they get their pants burnt off :D

On a side note, I once downloaded the gator software on my old computer to help me with form filling, but it was so lousy, works on rare occasions and basically messes up my system with those ads so much that I deleted it. Of course, I never did put an CC info on it, since it is real unsafe to store your CC number electronically...
