has anyone used barefooting.com? how come they are so cheap? how is their uptime and connection speed? would appreciate any first hand experiences (or even second hand ones). their packages are just too juicy to ignore!

As far as speed: www.ringquest.com serves more than a million pages a month :) (it may be down for maintenance right now).

If you would like I can get you references from several of our customers.

If the packages aren't entirely what you are looking for (you would like some additional components, maybe extra bandwidth) just ask. That's what we're here for after all :)

edit: as far as how cheap we are, I don't think we are anywhere near the bottom. We priced our packages based upon realistic prices that our customers could afford and which would allow us to not overload the server. Our intention is to have no more than 50 sites on a given server at any one time and to keep the actual load as low as possible.

Anyways, I am very happy with RackShack. Sure it would be nice to have a "managed provider", however I'm also constantly amazed by our techs.

IMO, forget about the number of sites on the box. Completely irrelevant for performance etc. Just focus on the loads etc. Keep 'em down around the 0.15 mark. ;)

I get a real chuckle when folks think a shared server performance is based around the "number" of sites on the box. :)

Verio is one of the core routers on the net. Most everything going in that direction will go thru Verio.

Roly, if you don't know how to read a traceroute, don't attempt to. The traceroute isn't through Cogent, it is through Verio, (though from what I've read, Cogent isn't actually bad at all). I think you're uninformed, not to mention RS isn't using only Cogent for connectivity according to this:

Seems a bit off, and to be honest, it is getting tiring reading posts from people who don't know what they're talking about who bash RS and RS based hosts just for the heck of it.

If you have a server at RS and have experiened connectivity problems that are attributed to their Cogent line, then that would be one thing. If you're hosted by barefoot and you've had problems, please share your experiences. Otherwise, I can't see why people enter into discussions...
