Hi,

I was just checking the pagerank for our domain http://www.thinksupport.net and all of a sudden I notice it has dropped down from 5 to 0.

Can anyone help me understanding what could be the reason for such a drop all of a sudden.
I remember to have checked the PR last month in Dec'06 and it was 5. As a matter of fact it is still displayed on URLTrends.com as 5.

http://www.urltrends.com/viewtrend.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thinksupport.net

But I believe URLtrends updates once every month hence it is not the current PR calculation.

If any other good tool such as Prchecker.info (http://prchecker.info/check_page_rank.php) is used, I believe it gives the current page rank.

But wondering what could be the reason of PR falling from 5 to 0 in less than last 30 days....!

Any help understanding the problem is appreciated..
Thanks.

Where did you see it as 5 ?

Prchecker.info (http://prchecker.info/check_page_rank.php) which was also displaying it as 5 few days ago, now displays it as 0.

I'm seeing a page rank of 3 for all variations of that URL except http://thinksupport.net/index.html which gets a page rank of 0. It's a good tip to try and pick an url scheme, ie. with or without www and with or without index.html etc., and then always redirect (301) to the one you picked, from all the other variations. That way search engines will not split your site's relevance/rating/Qi/whatever they call it between them.

Yeah, I had a few keywords drop from my site completely, even though links for other keywords still work.

Odd, but it usually straightens itself out after updates are done at GooglePlex.

Guys what is PR in your business? Is it too important for you? I think that good SERP in SE for hosting company is better that good PR. As far as I know Serp doesn't depend on PR, because I saw come companies in TOP10 with PR 1 or 2 and some companies with PR 5 6 under TOP 10.

You are right... Google earlier used to rank its search results on PR but as far I have heard recently they no longer stress on PR rating. That could the reason that good optimized website is visible in TOP 10 even though their PR is not that high.
