If price and the ability to encrypt data without throwing an alert in most peoples browser then Secure Business Services CA through enom is a pretty good deal @ 19.95 If you need to show that you have verified your Identity as opposed to a simple admin@yourdomain.com email verification I'd stick with Comodo. If you just need to encrypt the data with no signing verification, a self signed cert is good enough. MACscr 01-11-2007, 12:50 AM I recommend rapidssl. Its cheap and actually does do voice authentication and a little more detailed info than the comodo cert mentioned above. You can get a good price on them at http://ev1servers.net/Dedicated/DomainsAndSSL.aspx. KNL-BSW 01-11-2007, 02:08 AM Personally we use GeoTrust, but through a reseller account. If you find a reseller of GeoTrust there prices are much more reasonable. blacknight 01-11-2007, 04:12 AM What's GeoTrust's support like? KNL-BSW 01-11-2007, 04:16 AM never had a problem with them myself. Most of the certs we buy are trueid verified. I've only had to call them once and found out that I called about 30 seconds after the cert was emailed. LOL blacknight 01-11-2007, 04:35 AM So you've never really had to interact with their support team .... MACscr 01-11-2007, 03:57 PM So you've never really had to interact with their support team .... why would you need to? They just email you a cert, you set it up yourself. There really isnt much chance of them screwing up. Its usually just the end user messing up the install, which isnt their responsibility. blacknight 01-11-2007, 04:01 PM That's all well and good if you are only dealing with simple certs ..... KNL-BSW 01-11-2007, 04:04 PM What I was going to say Blacknight. ;) For your basic cert, you are right MACscr, but when it comes to trueident, high availability certs, and other products that completely changes. blacknight 01-11-2007, 04:07 PM Or when you have clients who want to use SSL on mobile devices of all shapes and sizes Or when you have clients who are using non-standard webservers Need code signing solutions I could go on ... nici 01-12-2007, 01:34 AM Even we use geotrust as a reseller and have found it pretty good up till now Nici C. True. i have just always thought of commodo as being very low end, which is why i was commenting on that area. My bad. zowee 01-13-2007, 06:22 AM If you're buying RapidSSL certs from EV1, go signup to the reseller website at resellone.net. Only $10. |
