Web Hosting Talk

View Full Version : Hosting Lounge - What There Saying.

As a member of WHT for some time, I may not post much as I'm not as educated or informed in regard to Hosting and similar issues as others but being a Webmaster it is important for me to know what Hosts are doing their job and what ones are not. That's why I visit WHT daily.

I won't say how I found them and wasn't going to say anything nor am I trying to stir the pot but I feel what is being said on another forum by the Administrator (Tim) shows little if any class and may be insulting to some here.

"I have to admit that WebHostingTalk is becoming worse everyday with the rude people."Thread (http://www.hostinglounge.com/showthread.php?postid=278#post278).

"Hosting Lounge can be better then Web Hosting Talk with Your help." Thread (http://www.hostinglounge.com/showthread.php?threadid=39).

I run a forum of my own and AT NO TIME, do I or any of my moderators bash, down play, or compare to forums of similar nature. Why is it many hobby sites show more class than "professional" sites?

If this post is wrong or does not belong here, please move or delete it. ;)

Sad isn't it, hypocritical that they still participate here :) There's almost as many webhostingtalk take-offs as there is web hosting directories, not a problem with those that are original but not many are.

Well those two sentiments are contradictory, aren't they? Criticizing WHT in one post, and hoping that someday maybe if they try really hard and everyone pitches and says "I think we can, I think we can" with enough sincerity, they might someday be better than WHT.

I hadn't even heard of that forum, but after a look around today I'd say they have a long way to go.

But it's too funny that they have a whole topic devoted to "Rackshack buying WHT." A feeling of inferiority breeding an obsession. Here's my advice: if you want to build a hosting-related forum that will actually ever be worth your potential visitors' time, put your focus on discussions about hosting, instead of discussions about WHT.

Hey, way to go Chicken ... can't keep a good bird down! I read several threads in here devoted to the issue mentioned in that post. It is stupid of him (not mentioning names here) to make waves after everything has settled... dare I say ... Immature?

Yet here we are, engaged in a discussioned aimed solely at the belittlement of said person. Ironic, isn't it?

I honestly don't think they have what it takes to build a community like WHT, the key factor that is missing is timing. And now they also have to contend with dilution. No harm in trying though eh?

I think some people do a very good job of belittling themselves. However, this thread has certainly raised the other forums profile hasn't it?

I think that forum lacks what I would consider as 'having potential': they have ads, no excuse for advertising in a forum that just started, 90% of owners and moderators own a hosting business, trying to outdo a much larger forum by means of bashing the other, some people involved there have some kind of controversial past (or present) with WHT....

seriously, these small "I wanna be like WHT" forums that have actually advertised at WHT are getting dumb and dumber... when are they going to realize that running a forum like this isn't really a race?

however, i agree to a point with those who say that WHT has changed a bit... compared to what I saw when I submitted my very first post here when they had vbulletin 1.1.3 running, there seems to be more 'unnecessary' posts that I read with a bag of popcorn in front of me, reading it like its a soap opera for techies while one party whines and complains about another... but then again, the search feature here can help you out when you've got a technical question and need an answer quickly ;)

 I am a newcomer but I have noticed that, it can be quite entertaining. Oh the drama .... I think the host name censoring has snuffed some of that.

I signed up there and started looking around but I soon realized that Tim only started the forum to promote his business! Look at all the advertisements from him in their advertising forum!

This is true.........but a side effect of having 15000 members is that the junk posts will increase too.......
