Typical comment from someone that:

1. Is not interested in buying/bidding anyway
2. Is not aware of how auctions work
3. Believes things should be given for free or a buck or two - anything over that is a scam.

Sure it costs $8 to register a domain name. But if someone else has registered the one you wanted, you will pay premium for it. The early bird eats the worm. ;)
