Freedom 06-27-2002, 12:32 AM We are going to be getting a reseller account
(just to host our own domains.. not ganna be hosting others)...
But we wan't crazy name servers...
ex:
yourhostsucks.yourhostsucks.com
sodoesyourhost.yourhostsucks.com
Do we have to use ns1. and ns2. or could we use our custom ones with out any problems?:D

thewitt 06-27-2002, 07:51 AM Most university nameservers don't comply with any sane naming convention - and many in business do not as well.
The ns1.domain "standard" is something some conservative, anal system admin did that caught on.
My nameservers were enoch and buggered for years, and I've used the entire Sleeping Beauty cast for a large network with load balancing.

DotComster 06-27-2002, 01:43 PM I'd hate to have to pick only 2 - but make sure your hosting allowes you lots of subdomains. Useing none standard name servers (NS1 DNS1) might get your site or your visitors some problem, but since it's new have fun trying things out :)
Also I see you used forums.yourhostsucks.com - I'd suggest something funnier, but I'm only on my 3rd cup of coffee ;)
