Allo folks!

Why I'm here: I currently host my site on CQ Host. In the last month or two the quality of service has declined dramatically. I have a relatively minor support ticket that has been open for over a month - with no response at all. Emails sent to them go un answered and there have been various other minor issues in the last few weeks that have left me at the point that I am ready to move.

Both Verve and Hostmagik seem to be very well received based on searches of this forum and google groups. I am very much leaning towards Hostmagik because of how active they appear to be with the users. Everything from server info to cancellation policies are outlined up front - this does a lot towards my peace of mind with them. My concern though, is that based on their site info, it appears they are running on a single P3 860mhz server (Isis) for however many accounts they have.

This makes me fear for site stability in the future.

Verve on the other hand, offers twice the bandwith (10gb vs 5gb) for the same $10 a month but seem to be much more reclusive in terms of support. Their website is very basic and offers up very little in terms of "warm fuzzies." However, they have been highly recomended and well received in all posts I have seen except one. (That message indicated that verve changed his plan without notice and essentially downgraded his service at the same rate.) Which makes me wonder how "customer focused" they are.

So...

Can anyone offer any info to make me more comfortable with Hostmagik on the technical side or Verve on the people side and push me off this fence?

---
If you are a host responding to this message (other then Verve or Hostmagik) - I appreciate you taking the time to direct me to one of your comparable plans, but unless you can direct me to raving reviews of your customer service, you've wasted your time.
The $$ are not in question here, the *quality* of support / service is.

Thanks in advance -

A second vote for HostMagik. I would not be concerned about the hardware... I am running an identical machine :) and Elena's service has been great, as far as I know. :)

Look at it this way, a wise business adds capital as they need it. HostMagik will add more equipment when it is needed.

The nice thing about a "smaller" host is the very interaction that you've noticed. Elena and the HostMagik staff really enjoy the interaction with customers... no question is too small... clients are people, not just accounts. You will get super support from them, IMHO.

I can honestly say that since July this comment cannot be more dead on. :D I have a small personal site hosted with HostMagik that Elena and went out of the way to make just for me. :) Being an almost insignificant "fly on the wall" compared to other clients that HM must have by now, I still receive the same prompt, professional, and fiendly support from Elena, Dahlia, and Phoenix that I got since day 1.

I highly recommend HostMagik for anyone's shared hosting needs at this point.
