Hello
I'm curently running small hosting business and accept e-gold and moneybookers.
I'm thinking about accepting credit cards also.
A friend of mine who is in hosting business for a few years says that there will be high fraud risk.
Anyone have experience with that kind of issue?
Thank you in advaice

Almost many of the webhosts accept credit card as a payment method. Use cc gaeways like 2checkout (2co.com), see https://support.2co.com/deskpro/faq.php?categoryid=28 to know some methods to minimize fraud, fraud alerts etc. ;)

Why would anyone go with 2Checkout at the rates they charge?
$49 one time signup fee
$0.45 per Sale
5.5% of Sale Amount
I am looking for PayPal alternatives but this definately would not be one of my choices.

I can definetly tell you from experience that if fraud will occur in anyway, its usually credit card and occasionaly paypal. But becareful of orders that come in, does the address and IP region differ? Usually your merchant will track this.

Credit cards are higher risk than e-gold and Moneybookers (which we also accept). It's just a risk of doing business.
If you're going to accept credit cards you need to go through an actual bank to get decent rates (eg. < 2% instead of 5.5%).

Agree with Jeff!
If you want to expand your business you need to take that risk. If you keep an eye on the sale then you surely can reduce the risk score.
I also recommend 2co.

We are into irc hosting and irc hosting has very very high fraud rate, but to overcome we are using fraudguardian in combination with fraudcall
though even after all the fraud screening done by them we still do all the verification manually before processing any order.
Also accepting credit card should bring a nice boost in your sales.
Hope it helps

But seriously, IRC hosting is bad for fraud ;) It's IRC and adult hosting that have some pretty high rates lol.

Yes irc does gets more fraudulent orders, but it's upto you how you manage it, you can easily filter out fraudulent orders
