Anyone know where I can get a merchant account without spending too much money upfront?

Thanks.

Thos are 3rd party credit card processors. If you want a real merchant account and are in the US, try www.echo-inc.com.

Thank you neofree. Yes, I am looking for merchant account, not 3rd party processors.

If you want an expensive merchant account, go with someone cheap.

We have been doing e-commerce for several years and have lost thousands by going with smaller, cheaper merchant banks and providers. We have found that most make their money in several ways that will cost you a fortune. Suck it up and go with Wells Fargo. They are more expensive but you will NEVER have problems. The extra $50.00 a month you will spend with them is well worth it.

I second the nod for ECHO. Lowest fees I've found. In fact, if you don't do any sales in the month, they charge you ZERO -- which is basically unheard of with a real merchant account.

2checkout.com is not a merchant account provider. They are a 3rd party processor.

Actually, Echo, does not seem too bad.. $99 start up fee.
