Hi,

I am currently selling Domains and shared hosting on my website (via domain/reseller accounts). However I want to start selling VPS and Reseller accounts in addition to domains and shared hosting. What would be the best way to go about this?

Thanks

Well selling VPS servers requires you to have a server and using a program like Virtuozzo. You need knowladge of the servers and need be smart as you're dividing your server into 4 or so virtual servers. [Edit - you can get a reseller account to resell VPS servers but you don't have full control]

Offering reseller accounts can be done in many ways.
-If you're on a budget, find a reseller host that has a script installed in WHM that allows you to set up sub-resellers.

- Buy a VPS server, get your preferred control panel and offer it from there as you do have ROOT access.

- Buy a dedicated server/colocation, you're basically free to offer anything if you own a dedicated.

I've been considering offering VPS Virtualozzo servers running the Plesk/or cpanel but I wasn't sure of the market demand. I didn't want to start going out to buy all the software and server for no one to sign up. Has anyone been making any huge money off of VPS accounts?

Depends on how much you concentrate on it. Some hosts only sell VPS servers now and make a living off it.
Most the people who you will find signing up are web developers, large websites, new webhosts, sometimes for running scripts like shoutcast teamspeak depending whether you allow it or not.

Hi!
The biggest problem I see with this idea is the high cost of cpanel licensing. It is *quite* a commitment you have to make with cpanel..for vps licenses.

The way to avoid this problem is to find a NOC that offers cpanel vps licenses. I'm not aware of any...but to be honest...this is not something I have carefully researched.

The market for this? Well...I think many people are beginning to realize a vps does not equal a dedicated server...and many have learned the hard way that selling shared hosting on a vps is not such a good idea...if you plan on keeping customers happy.

They are a wonderful learning tool for people to learn administration of Cpanel or another control panel. They are wonderful (sometimes) for use as a backup DNS server...or to learn programming.

Well...I've got to get back to work.

Good luck!

http://www.softlayer.com/ offers unlimeted Plesk for $12 a month and cPanel for $6 a month. That's not such a bad price.

If you'r going to sell VPS' than I believe there's 2 options... Go dedicated & buy Virtuozzo, or set up a partnership with a current VPS provider to resell their services. In most cases they'll give you a discount and you can dictate your prices, but they won't support your clients.

Hi!
I just talked to softlayer...and they had no cpanel license for $6.00/month.
$9.00/month..just as I thought.
