Greg Moore Nich 06-26-2002, 10:55 AM Hello, I would have to agree with Mr. Moore on this one. Go with PS2. I also agree with all of his reasons too. I've been a proud PS2 owner since its release, and the thought of switching systems has never crossed my mind. Kind regards tazd9t9 06-26-2002, 11:18 AM ps2 appletreats 06-26-2002, 11:24 AM PlayStation 2. You said you threw out your PS1, but what about the games? If you kept them, you can still play the good ones on PS2. Out of all the systems, PS2 has by far the most units in homes, and has more developers working for it and games available for it. Both PS2 and X-Box can play DVDs, but PS2 can play them out of the box while X-Box requires a $30 add-on remote. (PS2 also has an optional remote available). And GameCube can't play them at all. I also like Sony's online gaming strategy more than Microsoft's (i know little about Nintendo's). Microsoft, AFAIK, only plans to support broadband connections. This means that playing online will be faster and have less lag (probably). But, the low number of people with broadband, combined with the fact the XBox has sold the least units of these three consoles, will mean that there will be very few people online. But Sony plans to support both dial-up and broadband connections, which means that with the fact that almost everyone with an internet connection is using one of those options, and the large number of people with PS2s, there will be a lot of people online with PS2. And, I don't think that lag will be much of a problem, despite the dial-up users. Sega's Dreamcast was dial-up only. I played online a lot with it, and never had any problems with lag, in any game. I'm surprised at how few people have selected GameCube so far. If the PS2 was not on this list I would choose it. What's with all the GameCube hate? :( When I chose the PS2 for my new console a while ago, almost the ONLY reason I chose it was that my past 2 consoles were a Saturn and a Dreamcast. And while they both had some excellent games, I didn't want something that would die out fast. So the obvious choice on that point was the PS2. i wrote too much. Synthetic 06-26-2002, 11:46 AM I've got a GameCube, but I'm not too happy with it. I'm more interested in X-Box, I may get one soon. mlip129 06-26-2002, 06:36 PM Originally posted by appletreats PlayStation 2. You said you threw out your PS1, but what about the games? You will be able to play online with a modem if you connect it through a computer and get online with it that way. FDrive 06-26-2002, 06:57 PM PS2 all the way. The quality of games are just better. CRego3D 06-26-2002, 11:25 PM Get an XBOX and be ready for the next generation of games, not to mention XBOX LIVE ;) nobody ever kept an older piece of hardware becuase there was more software for it (at the moment) .. innovation is the key :) phpcoder 06-26-2002, 11:31 PM Ok, this is how I view each of the 2 our of 3 listed systems (briefly). X-BOX: No need to buy memory cards, and has 4 controller ports, so there is no need to buy a mulit-tap adaptor. Graphics are good, but sometimes they seem to "computerized". 99.9% sure you need a dvd controller to watch dvds. Is bulky, and alot of the games are fantasy... YUCK PS2: Need to buy memory cards and multi-tip. Graphics look good, and is a very nice looking system. I think has the best group of games of any system. Is reliable, and isn't like a computer. No need to use a dvd controller, you can use the ps2 controller. I would have to say that PS2 is the better of the 2 choices. priyadi 06-27-2002, 12:05 AM Another vote for PS2. :) coolguy23 06-27-2002, 12:20 AM ps2 all the way! i got one with 12 games and it rocks!! :D |
