In fact it's how I pay for everything company related. importcustom 06-26-2002, 12:54 AM careful with paypal, there is a site, don't know the address, but its from people that have had there accounts frozen by paypal and they have had THOUSANDS of dollars in there accont, and paypal doesn't have to unfreeze there account! Also heard they can freeze your account for no reason when ever they want to!! if anyone else knows what im talkin about or that site, please post it!! importcustom 06-26-2002, 12:56 AM Just to let you know i did find it, you might want to look at this if you use paypal to hold your money! i think its ok to use to get and send money but don't store your money there!! http://www.paypalwarning.com/ fractiousws 06-26-2002, 01:01 AM Yeah, I have heard all the stories. So far paypal has been nothing but great for me and I will continue to use them. NixHosting 06-26-2002, 01:02 AM Same here. I been using them for a long time. Never once had a problem. fsn 06-26-2002, 01:05 AM Aren't the caps on "excessive" online spending. This happened to a friend of mine when they were doing multiple purchases over the net in one day and it froze the transactions and the account, later requiring phone authorization, and later things returned back to normal for them. I haven't had much of a problem only because I never use it for purchases, strickly w/drawl basis. First of all, PayPal has never given me any problems. People who make sites such as paypalwarning, thiscompanysucks, attishorror, etc. are people who 90% of the time have caused their own problems. When a company for instance asks you to verify information and you refuse to verify it, do you think they are going to sit back and let you be a potential threat to ecommerce?? I've known many people who have used AOL (not saying its the best but it could be worse) who were "hackers" and have gotten their account suspended. Well, geez I wonder why? So, pardon these companies that take extra precautions to ensure the safety of other users if you fail to provide them the information or cooperate with them in any case regarding your account. I sure as hell wouldnt feel safe if ANYONE was allowed to sign up. Chicken 06-26-2002, 01:11 AM Originally posted by importcustom there is a site... There's also a site that details how the Canadians were the ones who hijacked the planes that destroyed the WTC, and another about a dog that ate a Winnebago, and another about an alien who ate a woman's baby. Now I'm not saying that site doesn't contain factual information, but your post reads like... "...and a dog ate a Winnebago!" Just don't believe everything just because it is on a website. I've heard comments from people on this forum about problems they've had and they deal with quite a bit of money and payments. importcustom 06-26-2002, 01:44 AM Originally posted by JamRover First of all, PayPal has never given me any problems. I have not had a problem either, but i only have recieved two $50 payments thats it! Just trying to let peole know that the potential for your account to freeze is out there!! xharine 06-26-2002, 03:58 AM Darn...am in Singapore and I wish I can have the atm card as well....*prays* akashik 06-26-2002, 04:35 AM Originally posted by importcustom was only trying to warn people about things, and what i have found! I have not had a problem either I think everyone understands you have the best intentions, but as the old saying goes, "Believe nothing you hear, and only half of what you see" I'm sure PayPal has causes some people problems, whether through their fault or others, but that's true of almost any company at some point. I don't think it makes their service bad though. I use them a fair bit for personal transactions, and find it a simple, effective method of getting money from A to B. That's really all they are - a modern Western Union. In no way are they a real billing service or merchant account. Greg Moore mhalbrook 06-26-2002, 05:09 AM THe thing that I get a kick out of is the people complaining about the thousands of dollars in their accounts they can't get at. Why in the name of all that's holy would you leave that much in an unsecured account? If I were getting enough payments via paypal to have thousands in there, there'd be a daily sweep of funds going on. seg fault 06-26-2002, 05:37 AM paypalsucks.com is a fun read.. clocker1996 06-26-2002, 05:40 AM Originally posted by mhalbrook THe thing that I get a kick out of is the people complaining about the thousands of dollars in their accounts they can't get at. I have never kept more than $300 at one time in my PayPal account. It's just NOT safe. Nich 06-26-2002, 10:22 AM Hello, Legit companies and individuals using PayPal should have nothing to worry about. I have been using it for a very very long time now, and found that as long as you are 1) Honest and 2) Follow the rules, PayPal wouldn't want to "freeze your account" for absolutely no reason. As long as you are honest with your client/customer and send the service/product in a timely fashion, you have no reason to worry. I usually find myself draining the account almost every day (via direct deposit). When there's no money in your PayPal account, you even have less to worry about! Seems hard to beleive people keep "thousands and thousands" of dollars in their accounts (thats why the bank has savings/checking accounts) Hope this helps. Kind regards, skylab 06-26-2002, 11:08 AM paypal user for almost 3 years. never had a problem, completely verified. that ATM card sounds great, i might have to get onto that action, however, i never keep more than $100 (enough to cover the payment of my server) in the account at any given time. once i go over, i immediately withdraw by direct deposit. Roy@ENHOST 06-26-2002, 11:16 AM Well, I think I can trust people from WHT. The great thing about WHT is people give their unbased opinions, almost I must say. Most of them will not gain anything from saying bad things about Paypal. And I am one disappointed paypal user. I got my account suspended and it has been so for months. My advise is dont use paypal if you can. rockergrrl 06-26-2002, 01:18 PM I never had any problems with PayPal for over 2 years now, and then the other week, I get my account restricted. All because I tried to add the check card for our bank account (this in the husband's name) on the account (bank account in husband name, no problem -- check card, problem)... Don't think I'll be getting my $60+ that's in there... all because the bank/check card isn't in my name... *sigh* mhalbrook 06-26-2002, 07:13 PM Originally posted by Roy@ENHOST Well, I think I can trust people from WHT. Sorry, they made the right decision, sort of, with the card. The name on the account and the name on the card should match. Otherwise, what's to keep you from somehow stealing my CC # and using it with your PayPal. Is your name nowhere on the Bank Account? iamdave 06-27-2002, 04:26 AM Originally posted by Chicken There's also a site that details how the Canadians were the ones who hijacked the planes that destroyed the WTC, and another about a dog that ate a Winnebago, and another about an alien who ate a woman's baby. Jessicam 06-27-2002, 05:53 AM I've been wondering......... have any of you applied for the PayPal Credit Card? If so, do any goodies come w/ it? :) Thanks, Jessica Akshara 06-27-2002, 06:56 AM To make an informed decision, you might want to do a search on the WHT forum for the thread from Deb at Futurequest and her experiences with PayPal. Very unfortunate circumstances have happened to good people, and sometimes not because of an error on their part. If all you're moving is a small amount of money, and keep your balance low, you shouldn't have a problem. If you plan on servicing large exchanges regularly, I really encourage you to do a search here for Paypal and look for the posts from Deb. If you read them, it might make you think twice - at least you'll be informed, and understand that it isn't an internet website hoax. The CANADIANS did this??? :eek2: :eek3: :flamethr: Canada then... Ok that's a joke but I guess you see my point ;) |
