:confused: a duh question, but i'd like ur opinion...

when will i want to have a dedicated ip address as a service from webhost? i notice some webhosts offer it, others offer shared....

If you can get a dedicated ip, do so. One problem not always talked about, hosting companies that host your site using a shared IP address, if your neighbor is caught spamming your web site can be blacklisted as a result! The same goes for pornographic or other content that is often penalized.

Dedicated IP all the Way!

If you are using SSL you need a dedicated IP address thats about it.. If you do get one your really just wasting one as there is really no benefit to it.. Hosts are not supposed to give IP's unless you are using SSL or find some other valid reason to need one.. Anyway's that my 2-bytes,,,

And anonymous FTP, should you need such a thing. Hopefully most do not.
