jackjack 02-09-2001, 04:26 PM Hello I am looking into a dedicated server soon, to support a lot of high bandwith sites. Can some companies post what they have to offer in this post. I am very fimiliar with UNIX and would like just unix dedicated server. I am not fimiliar with cobalt, nor I do I want win nt.
Waiting for some good replys.
Oh yes I might also add that I think I need over 100GB of transfer per month.

lamplighter 02-09-2001, 04:38 PM I might be a little new here to be saying this but this forum has strict rules on companies posting their plans. Check out the advertising forum, there are even some offers exclusive to webhostingtalk members.
I also suggest you browse some host directories to see what is being offered and then ask a more specific question. Check http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Hosting/Directories/ for a list of dirs.

jackjack....did I say it right?? ;)
I have direct experience with two companies with 100Gb transfer allowances and can vouch for the *incredible* support of both.
Catalog.com....who did have some connectivity problems earlier with @home network...and while I did not personally suffer any downtime then, I can assure you that they are MORE than satisfactory now. Great bunch of guys.
Wizardshosting.com also has an excellent deal with 100Gb transfer.
The monthly fees from both are also affordable.
Good Luck..!!

jackjack 02-09-2001, 08:18 PM Thanks and sorry :)
I have a question what does this mean?
5) Optional: The NOC you use (example: Alabanza, VDI based, etc.)
What do you mean by NOC? What is that short for?
Can anyone supply more information on this?
jackjack...
NOC = Network Operations Centre (Center)
This is a 'data centre' where web server computers are housed in an ideal environment for providing secure access to the internet.
VDI and Alabanza are two of the many major NOC's which house the servers of many hosting companies.
There are many, many more and when choosing your host you should make sure that their server is housed in an NOC with suitable faciliites, to assure the quality of connection and reliability of service....
There are a couple of web hosts sites with glossaries of many of these "hosting" terms and phrases....I'll try to look for a couple specifically and post them back here.....
I *think* a member here called Duster has a very good section explaining these and other things about web hosting...
Cheers.... :)

Jonah 02-10-2001, 10:51 AM You might wanna check out http://www.can-host.com and http://www.intelligenthosting.com.
My recommendation is alabanza (directly or not), for adult dynamichosting, both have good connectivity, alabanza over dynamichosting IŽd say, but alabanza doesnŽt allow adult content
RackLocation1 02-10-2001, 08:11 PM You might want to try the advertising forum, it has exactly what you're looking for Hosts listing their plans and specials.

tamyah: You need to take a look at the rules. You have violated the rules by posting an advertisement in a forum other than the Advertising/Offers forum.
You can look at the rules at: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/index.php?action=forum-rules
