View Full Version : Is Affordablecolo.com for real.....
jcinHouston 06-25-2002, 12:16 PM I have read a few good things here about affordablecolo.com, but I have some concerns...
When you go to their web site and try to order co-location space you get a server error message. It's been this way for at least two weeks now.
If you try to email them at sales@affordablecolo.com the email bounces back as an invalid email. I have tried this on several private and public email accounts.
Are these things a sign of what kind of business they run? I am interested in their service, but a little worried about the way their own email and web site functions. If they can't maintiain their web site and email can they really run a colocation service.

mas3000 06-25-2002, 12:19 PM That's not a good sign at least. Especially if you can't contact them.
ARETNA 06-25-2002, 01:21 PM WOW! That is very strange:

AcuNett 06-25-2002, 01:23 PM "How to order" gives a 404 Message, better check it out charles :).
mdrussell 06-25-2002, 01:47 PM I believe they have been moving offices, so give them some time to sort things out...
Matt
Alareach 06-25-2002, 08:49 PM I know that they have some satisfied customers here, but I had some servers there and was told many times 'we did not get that email' or, 'we replied to that one' when I had a problem and did not get a reply to my emails. That is why I do not have servers there now.

I know that feeling :bawling: Some people didn't get my emails, till i found out some ISP's are ignoring emails that come from a mailserver without reverse DNS. Thats just rediculous if you ask me (for an admin to set that up), but some people are doing that nowdays, so i added Reverse DNS to our mailservers, so far so good. :)
RichPA 06-26-2002, 03:38 AM Been trying to tell Charles of the e-mail problems for weeks now....
Also requested a few IP's from them for my colo'd server that's in the dallas4colo facility last Thursday, still no word on them or when they'll be available for my box......
mdrussell 06-26-2002, 01:05 PM AffordableColo are waiting to get a new batch of IPs from ARIN. We're in the same boat.
cbaker17 06-27-2002, 12:23 AM Sorry for the belated response i just got back into town, needless to say moving offices has been very trying to say the least. Any customers that need ips should open a ticket, and ill do my best to fill them, we just got another /20 approved from arin. SO ips wont be a problem, im just waiting for them to get ahold of me.
Rick youll have yoru ip tonight, as i said i have been out of town, and since were about out of ips any ip requests go through me.
Ip requests can take 5-7 business days and im not aware of any customer who has not recieved ips in 5-7 business days unless their requesting a huge amount.
Anybody having trouble emailing me us try charles@affordablecolo.com or sales@affordablecolo.com
Yes were for real :) and should have any email problems and communication problems fixed when our new offices open in july 1st.
TimPD 06-27-2002, 12:36 AM Why are you moving offices?
cbaker17 06-27-2002, 12:45 AM Just like to make note that were one of the few providers who still offer FREE UNLIMITED IPS. If we charged for ips it wouldnt take near as long to issue them, and we wouldnt be running out.
Were moving to new offices to acomodate growth weve also hired on quite a few new people.
TimPD 06-27-2002, 02:55 AM It is very nice that you offer Free Unlimited IPS :). I'm glad of that. Keep Up With the Great service..
cbaker17 06-27-2002, 03:06 AM email problems should be fixed now
