Hi, do may of you ever have to transfer domains from verisign.
I have a customer who has been having problems, their site doesnt seem to make much sense or give much info.
All's he wants to do is change nameservers and it seems like a hell of a lot of hassle to do it!

That's why they get the big bucks - such great customer service.

Verisign are our biggest headache. Tranfers can fail many, many times before being accepted.

It's a nightmare - it will cost you a lot of money to get away from them, this is why (in my opinion) they have some customers in their database :)

Verisign is evil.

I always advise customers to transfer the domain to a different registrar. NetSol seems to like to make things so difficult. So, it's best to battle them just once (such as during a transfer).

i agree, if you have trouble with verisign, just do your research and transfer to a registrar which is renowned for offering good customer service, it may involve a bit of trouble transferring out, but it will definitely be worth your effort in the long term, both in terms of better service and cost savings.

What I fail to understand is, you would think that registrars which charge very high prices would be able to employ staff and offer a much better level of customer service than the cheaper companies. This is definitely not the case.

Perhaps they get so big, that they dont care if they lose one or two customers. I guess it is this kind of attitude, that is slowly seeing the larger companies. slowly losing market share.

changing nameservers, is an extremely simple task, one that can be done in a couple of minutes at most with other registrars.

personally i use 123reg.co.uk as i am in the UK and they are excellent but this is the second customer i've had who has been with verisign, one just phoned them and they said 72 hours but it was changed over in less than 24.
The other registered their name with demon internet wo are being un co-operative about the whole thing and now verisign are going to fax him some forms to fill in, but it all seems ridiculously complicated just to change 2 nameservers, with 123 u just click on change, change them and press done!
