Here's another Control Panel Poll with more options.

What exactly is the purpose of this post? You know there is already a ton of such post, and they don't really serve any purpose, since each person has different need and no one single panel can serve everyone.

What will happen is that everyone who uses a control panel will come in and vote for their own, which doesn't help any body else in anyway.

Basically to add a more complete alternative to the other one that's going on now.

I want to know who voted for hostgui? Its not even ot yet!!! There isn't even a working demo. At least keep the options to panels that are available currently.

Ensim ServerXchange
Is not a control panel. It's a virtual machine product.

Alabanza
Is not a control panel. It's a full reseller suite and is non-portable.

HostGUI
Might as well be vaporware given that no demo is available. In any case it sure doesn't belong here.

Otherwise, it's nice to see a poll that lists a number of panels rather than two or three.

Alright, alright, just shut up and vote! (haha, no offense intended)

So this is just "voting for the sake of it"?

You should have this posted in the lounge forum.

Must agree that the person who voted Ensim is nuts IMHO. I have run Ensim for the past 4 months and finally see the chance to get rid of this nightmare. Hell, after installing LS 3.1 my server has had a few apache and mySQL freezes that appear nowhere in any error log. Also 2 mySQL databases just mysteriously got kurupted and the source of all these problems seems to lie in Ensim.

I have nothing against any unreleased control panels. I just find it hard to believe that they could be considered "the best."

:) Neopanel and Hostgui made it onto the list. SimpleCP atleast has a demo online for everyone and the sourcecode on sourceforge for anyone to download and use

Same with Helm. Its only a demo at the moment but would definately get my vote.

I don't know what demo you have used but helm seamed crappy to me.
It wasn't user friendly.
Alot of the features were hidden behind loads of click abouts.
The nav is realy BAD!!!
Im sure it has a good backend system but if the front end isn't easy to use then what good is it.

Some people mentioned that a while ago and they put in a drop down box which has made access to areas within only one of two clicks. Perhaps you haven't seen it recently?

If you have better suggestion instead of "is realy BAD" perhaps you should tell them? They have been implementing other peoples suggestions from their forums.

I want real pros and cons of HSphere.

From what I see..it rocks. Works on both platforms and is updated every 3-4 weeks....

I mean...what can be so bad about it???

Not much webhostguy. It's a great system that will be moving into a much larger position in the future.

The only bad things I've heard is reports about its usability and results of some independant stress tests that an internet magazine made.

I'd like to see those reports. Do you know what magazine that was?

Adam_S
07-30-2002, 08:35 PM
I stumbled across them by accident. The magazine had tested 2 or 3 other CPs too. I remember Ensim and CPanel being two of them. Ensim didn't do well either, but cpanel did. I'm sure there was another but I can't remember which one. It might have been plesk.

I'll can't remember who it was off my head, I was only glancing. I remember it was an american webhost industry magazine and there was a link to the article on their frontpage. I read it only about 2-3 weeks ago so it must have been pretty recent.

It was an interesting read. As I remember it, the person doing the tests was looking at 3 things. Installation ease, usability and stress testing.

Adam,

I also never heard about such review. I would really appreciate if you post a link. Usually when magazines do such reviews, that notify the vendor, and I never got such information. So I am not sure what you are talking about.

The only thing that comes to mind is WHmag article that was done about 2-3 years ago.I think it was reviewing Plesk & H-Sphere 1.5. Well, H-Sphere 2.x is completly new, totally redesigned platform, with new interface, concept, and much more features (there simple no comparison, and we did not re-use single line of code). And even back then the review was very positive & good.

I'm desperately trying to remember the name. I'll look through my browser history.. There is quite a bit there so might take me a while..

I just remembered something.. I think I got to it by clicking on a banner, it had something about a free subscription period offer and site was orange (ish). I thought it might had been on webhostingchat.. but i can only see a couple on there... I'll keep looking.

My memory seems to remember the weirdest stuff. I'd be interested in seeing exactly how much I have remembered from the glance!

Adam_S

I'm having no luck. I can only tell you what I remember from the article.

On the installation stuff it was complaining about one which had 3 separate docs about the installation which at some points conflicted with each other, I can't remember which of the CPs it was talking about at that time. Ensim was remarked as easy to install though it said something about taking an hour!. It noted about CPanel that it was installed by someone else so he couldn't comment. He talked about the licencing of cpanel about how it worked and was noting some of the negatives of that.

The load testing was basically about tryng to use the products whilst the server was under considerable stress. He noted that cpanel did well 2 others were almost unusable but just about worked and ensim was totally unusable.

I can't remember anything else, though if I spot the magazine banner or site again I'll post it somewhere you can find it.

Strange, with h-sphere, when web/mail/dns/win is under load, for 99% of installations it will be irrelavent, as CP will be on a different server, and it would perform as before. Also, any load would affect only one of the servers in the cluster, not the whole system. And the control panel itself can handle huge amount of users. We did not see performance degradation for 10,000+ users systems yet.

Looks orange :), but nothing on H-Sphere. I would really like to see them reviewing it there. They do pretty good reviews.
