View Full Version : New control panels...
Get-Hosted.com 06-25-2002, 04:52 AM Does anyone know the status of the new control panels?
The new Burst one, the new jaguar one, and the new VDI one?
Burst originally had August of 2001 as the release date, then Q4 2001, now a broad 2002.
For HostGUI here's a quote: "It will not take anywhere near six months." - 12-13-2001
After 6 months, they don't even have a projected release date.
I haven't heard about the VDI control panel for at least 6 months, my guess is that is dead.
Everyone sold a lot of servers with Cpanel claiming a free upgrade to NOCSoft.
NexDog 06-25-2002, 11:38 AM Yea, where the hell is HostGUI?
digitalb 06-25-2002, 01:46 PM It loks SWEET!!:D :D
Tazzman 06-25-2002, 01:52 PM Neopanel: www.neopanel.com
Release date is currently 12th of July, just do a search for the threads discussing it.
SuperDon 06-25-2002, 01:57 PM Everyone sold a lot of servers with Cpanel claiming a free upgrade to NOCSoft.
mmmm......come to think of it, we were sold a server that claimed to have a free NocSoft upgrade?!?
Is that false advertising? :stickout
William 06-25-2002, 02:15 PM We have people using the beta, we are mainly focusing on shaping the features and improving the load speeds.
the Client side is what we are finshing up.
We are not going to brag about something till it`s ready :)
I will list a site sortly where you can be on the beta team and get more details in about 1 week.
Get-Hosted.com 06-25-2002, 02:46 PM To me it seems like HostGUI created a nice little html page of what they wanted their control panel to look like. If that was actually from a working control panel, then something more then no release date would be out 6 months later.
I'm pretty sure anyone can go create an html page of what they want their control panel to look like. Please correct me if that html page was from an actual working control panel.
Another possible "vapourware" might be Mchost's VirtualCP (www.virtualcp.com and http://forums.virtualcp.com/)

I highly doubt that virtualcp is ever going to be released anytime soon either. I remember when Marc first announced it in January and he said it was almost done then... Yeah right...:(
TimPD 06-26-2002, 09:23 PM Estimated VirtualCP Release Date: Q2 2002 - Live online demo will be available soon! hmm same release day. Maybe they're trying to release it at the same time as HostGUi?
ScottD 06-26-2002, 09:26 PM It's an interesting development cycle when you have to actually package something for the end user to install, maintain, and upgrade throughout time.
Chances are these folks developing these control panels got all of their innards functioning and moving bits in the right order and overlooked the one thing that'll break em. A delivery method.
Software devlopment is easy, software development for the masses is a whole different game.

I posted this quite often in several forums ...we're not trying to do a race with HostGUI or any other control panel, but creating a stable and extensive hosting platform. We're not taking pre-orders until the first release is here. When we feel its ready to be used on a production environment, we will release it, not before :)
Incognito 06-26-2002, 10:19 PM Much ado about nothing....
Why so much attention to products that don't yet exist? Meanwhile the currently available panels keep improving and some of them lower prices.
When they are available...and when they are proven...then I will give them serious consideration. Until then, I use CPanel, Ensim, and Plesk and while neither is perfect, they all do the job pretty well with CPanel being my preference. Also, I hear lots of good reports on H-Sphere and may test it soon.
Also understand this isn't the first time new panels will have been introduced, I have evalauted many others over the last couple of years that have made it nowhere.
Arsalan 06-28-2002, 09:54 PM There is another control panel which is up for release in a few days.. Its made for windows 2000 and as far as I know is the only windows 2000 control panel with its own mail server being offered at less then $200. Its named "Active Matrix" and its demo looks quite good!
cant understand why youd need a control panel for win based hosting.
Arsalan 06-29-2002, 05:02 AM what are control panels usually used for WebHozt?
ofcourse for e-mail managment, DSN configurations, Component managment etc...

I wonder if this could be the problem, but I highly doubt it, at least with some.
I wonder why almost everyone would give a release date of weeks to a month or two, and 6 months later having absolutely Nothing to show. Seems pretty odd to me.

SimleCP is still in development planned release this summer - we had a demo online but took it offline last week - we will get it back online this week - its hard and we won't guarantee a bug free release - it's hard enough getting people to test it -we have a huge list of people who'v signed up for beta test but we received almost no feedback when we asked for peoples commends on the installation/bug status....

Same release Day? What release Day Q2 is a 3 month window of time, not a specific day.

Adam_S 07-02-2002, 03:59 AM Another new CP is Helm. Looks like the site is live now.
This is the new multi-server system for Windows 2000. I was lucky enough to have a play. I don't think the site does it the justice it deserves.
Arsalan 07-02-2002, 04:38 AM :P whats the URL ?
mhall 07-02-2002, 05:16 AM http://www.webhostautomation.com

Maniac 07-06-2002, 02:37 AM NeoPanel needs better skins. I know *looks* don't matter but it does help.

Hmmmm... I think it looks great, and isn't so graphic-intensive.
Neo3Net 07-06-2002, 03:59 PM Some people like our skins and some people don't
Anyway, we have been working on more skins and since the release has been delayed we are working to make sure neopanel is released with many more skins.
Here is a sneak peak of a new one: http://neo3media.com/user4/domain.htm
The left hand navigation will probally be contractable.
Tell me what you think.
We were trying to gear towards non graphic themes. I guess we should start developing some more themes with graphics.
Thanks
-----EDIT------
Here is the second version of that theme with the left navigation changed.

Adam_S 07-06-2002, 05:13 PM The pro version as webmail.
I have to agree that its a very well built email server with some very useful features that other mail servers should have adhered to before now.

Jay-
Unleash your NXPANEL beta upon the Webhosting world- we're ready for it. Our company would definitely like to give it a test run. All of us on this board have been through dozens already, give us a shot to critique yours and share feedback / suggestions / guidance , it will definitely be worth the experience.
How can we get an alpha, beta, theta, or what release is it in currently?
If it will rival HELM, then we'll all be salivating for it, without a doubt.
Thanks!
Arsalan 07-24-2002, 02:30 PM Sorry for not replying :P was on a holiday...
any way the site is : http://etrinix.com (it should be up in a few days, I was told)
Our company is providing them with dedicated servers so I knew about their control panel, Otherwise they planned to have it announced after the final version was out!

SO let me guess Travis, your going with HELM, if you want to try it out, you know how to get ahold of me.

We haven't decided on anything at all. It could go a variety of routes at this point- just wanted to keep our options open. You still in our geographical vicinity?
How about a presentation to the management team?
It would be a pretty positive experience to have an in-person demonstration that we could report back on to the rest of the WHT community. How do normal users sign up for a beta? We've got dozens of people that want to nuke HC and anything else that's been tried throughout our dedicated server client base.
Nothing but love and curiousity from this vantage point.
;)

I believe they'll start shipping it today (or so says their website).
The pricing is extremely good specially since we don't have to pay for any additional software like mail servers etc. ( http://www.etrinix.com/cm/pricing.php )

lol....i'm really beginning to wonder....
especially considering its listed as a 'developmental demo with not all features active' in the forum....
you moan when theres no demo and you moan when there is....

well u cud 've placed another "colorfull" ;) page for
"Working hard, try laterz !!!" :stickout
why it was "404 Error: PAGE NOT FOUND!!!", :P
certainly, errors like this leaves a bad impressoin about it on ppl.
so isnt it just the facts ...!!! :stickout
Adam_S 08-04-2002, 06:44 PM As Jonny said, they did announce the demo as a development demo, and their forums mention that "parts of the system are taken off line whilst work is being done on them" or something like that. I think that explains the 404 you saw. Its not an application error, its a page not available alert.
If they didn't explain that this would occur then I would have chased them on it ages ago. Definately a mole hill, not a mountain ;)
