View Full Version : Anyone else have this problem??
KeepThemBlee 06-25-2002, 12:56 AM I had to sign up an account with MeHost (http://mehost.com). Because my old host weren't paying bills, or something.
I signed up my account with mehost on Friday, and my site has been down since early Saturday. I have emailed them a few times and only once they responded.
Sucks, cause I can't find another host that offers 500 megs of storage, 25 gig bandwidth, reseller for 15/month.
Just wondering if I'm the only one with this problem.
mwatkins 06-25-2002, 01:09 AM Well it can't possibly be mehost, since they are number two on someone's 'ping' test.

KeepThemBlee 06-25-2002, 01:27 AM What would you say it is?
FTP doesn't work either.
The DNS for my domains were like NS3.MEHOST.COM and then an IP address or something afterwards. But when I tried to change the DNS to that it would say something like, "That is not available" so when I change it to just NS3.MEHOST.COM it works.
Could that be the problem?
I doubt it, cause the IP for my site doesn't work either.
mwatkins 06-25-2002, 02:09 AM Sorry, I was being sarcastic but not at you.
If your site isn't up then you'll need to speak to mehost / pwebtech about that -- there's nothing that we can do. Its certainly not connectivity to their site or the data center where they are located.
mwatkins 06-25-2002, 02:15 AM Actually your site is up and running at the IP address 66.246.14.188.
ns1 and ns2.mehost.com do not have your host information; however ns3.mehost.com and ns4 do.
So go to your registrar
Registrar: Go Daddy Software (http://registrar.godaddy.com)
Domain Name: KEEPTHEMBLEEDING.COM
and make sure the name servers for your site are updated for your domain record to poing to ns3 and ns4.mehost.com
and you should be good to go.
KeepThemBlee 06-25-2002, 02:26 AM That's the thing.. They are pointed to ns3/ns4.mehost.com. I updated the DNS earlier this morning.
It worked friday night with ns1/ns2.mehost.com but now neither of them seem to work.
(ps, how did you find all that info out? haha)
BadBoy 06-25-2002, 02:38 AM If you updated it this morning (monday morning) your site should be up around tuesday morning or afternoon.
KeepThemBlee 06-25-2002, 03:03 AM Okay, hope it works.
Thanks guys.
iamdave 06-25-2002, 03:29 AM It takes time for your new nameservers to correctly propogate. It cant take between 24-72 hours, so be patient.

(ps, how did you find all that info out? haha) Your provider should not be dropping records from their dns server without telling you. Odd.
Finding it out
1 - your www link points to your site name
2 - your dns entries weren't yet propagated so I manually switched to using mehosts various dns servers until I found the entry, which gave me the ip address
%nslookup
Default Server: localhost
Address: 127.0.0.1
> server ns3.mehost.com
Default Server: ns3.mehost.com
Address: 64.247.32.132
> keepthembleeding.com
Server: ns3.mehost.com
Address: 64.247.32.132
Name: keepthembleeding.com
Address: 66.246.14.188
Today all looks well:
%host KEEPTHEMBLEEDING.COM
KEEPTHEMBLEEDING.COM has address 66.246.14.188
KEEPTHEMBLEEDING.COM mail is handled (pri=0) by KEEPTHEMBLEEDING.COM
Have fun

Lurleene 06-25-2002, 12:30 PM I don't think mehost dropped the records... look at the first post, Keep just signed up with them Friday.
I bet the reason it WORKED Friday was because his domain was still resolving to his old host.
Then when his DNS propogated, there was a problem because they were incorrectly set to ns1 and ns2 instead of ns3 and ns4? I could be wrong about that last part though.
AcuNett 06-25-2002, 12:32 PM I think Lurleene is correct.
KeepThemBlee 06-25-2002, 01:31 PM It's working pretty good so far.
Just one thing, if I type in WWW. before the address it comes up saying I installed the apache server correctly.
Is that just the cache not clearing, or something?
Cause I know that takes like a day or so..
Lurleene 06-25-2002, 01:35 PM Yeah, I see that. Tell mehost, they need to set up records for both with the www and without. Seems they did just the without (odd, since usually it's the other way around!).
KeepThemBlee 06-25-2002, 01:41 PM Thanks,
Quick response, I like this site. :)
