Does anyone know of a control panel suite or program that handles Windows Streaming Server like what shoutcast has. (example: Cast-Control, for Shoutcast).

That would be helpful in magaging streaming account on a Windows Server.

Microsoft provides a web-based control panel for windows media services - it comes with the product.

Company is planning to sponsor us a stream, but we have Djs globally that have to log in. So sometimes we had to kick out the the DJs Ip, so we could get the upcoming DJ logged in.

So kinda that's why I'm more interested in how to do it from the client side and not really server admin side.

You cannot do it form the client side - you need admin rights on the server to manage media streams.

So do you know what those providers who offer Windows Live streaming use, or could it be an inhouse development or so?

What i understand there isent a off the shelf solution, i have got a friend who hosts his own company and his designing his own control panel and rumors have it his gunna sell it on the open market.
but im not allowed to say who it is ive been told.

Cast Control will work on a windows server.

Cast control will not control a windows media server.. its for shoutcast only i believe...

i mean you cant use cast control to control a windows media server.. ie WMS media streaming.

Also Windows media services work in such a way that the streams dont need to be restarted.

The WMS stream switches itself on and off according to if you are connected to it.

Also it adjusts the bandwidth maximising usage and cutting down on lagg and keeping wasted bandwidth to a minimal level.

Its very clever indeed.


So there is no need for a control panel as such. Just a stats page that can be built in XML.

I co-run an internet-only radio station, and we currently have DJs located globally (UK, Amsterdam, Canada, US, and Caribbean (West Indies)).

Due to the fact that we live in different time zones, someone always has to be awake/available to stop their stream in order to let the another DJ on to do there show. (DJs have scheduled time slots.)

At times there is just a pc connected and streaming a playlist to keep music flowing on the website, and at times myself or my partner might not be around to let the scheduled DJ in.

Shoutcast has that admin panel, where anyone who knows the password could just log in and kick the person who's in currently stream and connect themselves.

This is what I was looking for for Windows Streaming Server.

If your a developer, you can write your own.. Its actually extreamly easy..

We're in the process of developing an addon for two well known control panels, but unless you already had licenses for those CP's the cost of our module ontop of it would work out quite expensive for you.

What you're looking for (dj kick on wms) is TOTALLY custom. Nobody offers it except for www.streamsolutions.co.uk to my knowledge. This was in fact pointed out by a customer of ours. =)

I was looking if it or something close to it was aavailable on the market for sale/use.
