Hi

I'm looking for a webhost. Ghoulnet and Netweaver have both been recommended to me. They seem to provide very similar services, for the same price. I am trying to find out whether there are any significant differences.

My requirements are very simple. I am a photographer with a simple online portfolio (http://www.richardnicholson.com)

As a newcomer to web design and hosting, the most important thing to me is user-friendliness. Also, I want easily digested website statistics, and I want to be able to retrieve my email whilst travelling. At some point in future I may want to password-protect parts of my site.

(Relevant info (?) - My site is currently hosted on my freespace at BTinternet. I think it is about 5Mb in size. Initial traffic is modest. I have the domain names richardnicholson.com and richardnicholson.co.uk registered with 123Reg. I want both addresses to point to my website. I intend to manage my website using Dreamweaver FTP on a Mac. I have recently changed ISP from BTinternet to Surfanytime.co.uk)

So who should I go with - Netweaver or Ghoulnet?

Thank you

Richard

Never heard of either of those but if you are looking for get your email while away traveling I would suggest making sure that they provide web based email access as this will the the easiest means of doing this.

Hi Richard. I have heard of both of them (as I am UK based) but never had any personal experience. Pointing your domain name to your hosting plan is very easy with 123 reg....simply change the DNS servers from within the control panel. As far as I know, both will provide a protected folders, some form of webmail and web stats however its worth emailing them both to confirm this. It will also give you an indication on responce time.

Good luck

Goulnet used to be called EZEE.co.uk but I dont know much more than that. The other one - I have not heard of.

I've heard good things about both of these companies and both are supposed to be very good. I have heard one or two negative comments on Netweaver so my vote goes to Ghoulnet (it is very close though).

Having said this, I don't think you'll be disappointed with either :)
