Greetings all.

We're considering running banner ads here on WHT. We just got a quote from the WHT autoresponder and are now looking at what kind of results we can expect.

Anyone here have experience running ads on WHT? Was it a successful run? Did it produce a lot of visits, leads and/or customers?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Brian

I really am not trying to be a party pooper here but I would think that a majority (maybe 80%) of the people in this forum are we hosters themselves so I dont see how it could ever come close to paying it self off.. atleast i cant picture getting a huge response as opposed to posting something in the hosting speacial offer forum.. just my 2c

OKI i agree to a certain extent with what you say, although i get a lot of new customers from here so it may be effective to a certain extent.
However i just find ads the size of the ones on WHT annoying and i scroll past them

I would have to agree. Unless your product is targetted AT Web Hosts, there doesn't seem to be much point (Control panels, accounting stuff, servers, software, etc), does there.

My thoughts too. Notice how the majority of advertisers at WHT are targetting the web hosts themselves -- Ubersmith billing automation, Ensim control panel, etc.

Yes, products that would sell well in that ad_space would be tools for web hosts, IMO. :)

you dont sell cars to car manufacturers! you dont sell insurance to insurance agents.

hence it will be very difficult for you to earn a decent profit if you advertise your web hosting services in a professional forum related to wrb hosting... that too at such high advertising rates when the competition is so intense.

have you tried Google AdWords? we tried it some time ago and we were happy with the results. at least you get value for the money you spend. but i guess that would depend on several factors... it has to be a well planned thing... not just choosing adwords at random or offering an online service without even having a decent-looking website and the proper basic facilities that should be in place before you even think of advertising online.

note that i did not mention pricing here. we priced ourselves way above our competition and still earned more the advertising than we spent on it.

I really can't commetn on the effectiveness (or lack of) mainly because I honestly don't have a clue about it, however this forum is interesting in that more than just web hosts come here. Plenty of people looking for hosting come here, plenty of would-like-to-be-resellers, etc. So it seems like a mix.

Plenty of hosts too, as was mentioned :D
