Do they really do things manually? Changing a single dns takes two days! On average, other hosts or registrars take an hour or two.

Do they make your life difficult even if you pay for hosting? I might as well renew for 6 years and transfer it somewhere.

Can you realistically expect a provider to give "adequate" tools and support when
offering .com domain registrations at a loss?

I'm sure you know the saying "you get what you pay for". If you insist they do as
the other registrars do, then you're seriously wasting your time.

if you would like great support go to networksolutions not registrars that make a buck a name

Just wondering when you say changing the dns takes two days, are you refering to the time it takes for the dns to propagate? Doesn't it normally take that long for the dns to propagate? I do beleive everything is automatic as far as changing the dns goes, as you can do this all through your control panel. If i'm wrong please let me know.

I have several domains among many registrars and Netfirms is the slowest. The others have deeper issues, but I smell something fishy. It's like they screened what I do.

For $10, they don't make a dime unless they get a deal like they usually do.

Isn't there something at $50 and you actually get 'quality'? Or they're all in the same boat?

I think if you are registering or changing .ca domains things may take a little longer, I would imagine it is how cira handles the changes. You may notice things are a little quicker with normal tld's such as .com, .net ect. I do not beleive netfirms screens the dns changes, but it may be different for the .ca domains, not really sure.

I really do not beleive that you get more if you pay more money for domains, I am not too sure really why people pay as much as $50 per domain, I do not beleive that it speeds anything up. I think it has to do with percieved value & quality, as they are likley the same as the cheaper registrars.

Dude, Dreamhost took 5 minutes to propagate my .com after I registered it.

.ca's take about 12 hours...

Anyways you're not sure about a lot of things. Are you trying to help or to learn?

You come here to complain about them yet expect to pay nothing? Grow up or spend real money

I'm not complaining.

I just need to know some facts.

Did you even read the stuff before? I'll gladly pay $50 for a domain if it's not the same crap.

Grow up dude.

Your question was, why Netfirms takes so long. Seeing as Netfirms does not publish online how they do their business one can only guess. So if your looking for the 100% actual reason, maybe try asking Netfirms yourself...DUDE...:stickout:

I have like 10 domains at netfirms, they do take some time to appear registered at other domains, but as far as propagation of the dns it depends. I had a domain that was propagated in like 2 or 3 hours after payment confirmation. For 5$/domain it's really a great deal. As for the hosting it takes time too because you have to confirm your credit card to limit fraud. I am really glad with them and I will be using them for all my customers.

Plus all registrars tell you that it would take between 24 and 72 hours for the dns to propagate, nothing is guaranteed. Again you get what you pay for.

For me I give netfirms 5 stars for their money/value business.
