View Full Version : Planning a trip to America

Hey,

I'm entertaining the idea of going to America for a few days from the 19th/20th July to the 24/25th July (need to be back for holiday with the lads on the 26th).

Anyone suggest where to stay? What to do?
Where to fly into?

Anyone want to put me up (for reasonable rates) and show me the scene?

Maybe I'll visit a few cities.

Just an idea.

Eh? You don't live in America?

New York (of course...), Boston, Washington DC, Baltimore are good places to go ;). New York probably the best just because it has the most things to see and do. :cartman:

Kansas City definately. We got them crazy little women and .... I forget how the rest of the song goes.

Whatever you do in America, you've gotta go to a baseball game. It's just tradition. :)

Uh oh...Matt is coming to get his money, better watch out Robert :D. You should definitely come to the DC area, Matt. I would offer to put you up, but the little packet will be here by then, and I don't think a screaming kid -- or his beleagured parents -- would make good company :D.

If you do come to the DC area, all WHTers in town should get together for a couple of beers :D.

So if I come to DC, will people buy me beer!?

I can't find anyone around here that'll do it. :stickout

Sorry, you have to have at least 500 posts before anyone will buy you a beer. See...post count does matter :D.

By my reckoning, you could buy me two full pints and 27% of another pint for the number of posts I've made :)

It would be cool to get together at a restaurant, hotel or something in New York, Chicago, DC, or some other large city.

What does everybody think :)

You really should see New York, Matt. I know that some forum members live around there. Should be easy to hook up with someone to show you around.
But, there are so many worthy places to go across the country, it would be really hard to choose. Although, flying into New York and staying a while, should be high on the list.

Flights to New York are quite cheap if I fly on the 19th/7.

If it all went ahead who would be interested in meeting up for a drink on the 20th.

btw, what do you guys drink? I've heard it's all Budweiser, what about Stella Artois (not sure I can last long without it)?

If someone doesn't mind signing for my hotel room, I can Dr. Pepper it up all night. :)

I can't even remember the last time I drank a Budweiser; you're being completely misled. A couple of places I hang out at have Stella Artois. Good stuff... I'll usually drink a pint of Guiness (but only at a couple of places -- I'm pretty picky about it) or a bottle of Becks at my usual New York locations. So no way will you required to drink Bud!

I think I could hang out on the 20th, as it looks right now. Actually I think the bar where my best friend works is having a big party that night, though, so I might be obligated to go see her -- it'd be fun, but it's on Long Island, not in the city.
