I believe you may not get very many answers to your question. The problem is the rules here state that we cannot receommend a solution that we sell to our customers. It is considered promotion, which is not allowed.

There are plenty of great carts out there including Miva for you to choose from. Miva, like almost all software has its good points and bad points. It really depends on what your needs are and what you personally feel is important in a cart software.

I would suggest doing a search here for hosts that specialize in e-commerce solutions and contact them off the board with your list of questions and requirements.

i hv been looking for on and off since i first posted now. i don't understand this miva popularity -> it sounds like it is the biggest player in the small business market. but it is NOT EASY for layman (is it? i feel it is not) can we talk about miva features ?

i do not sell miva to my clients - but i want to add something so they can sell their products online without much more cost. i'm sure there are others like me.

I used to work on a few Miva sites a while back and found it to be solid and reliable.

Miva is a good solid alternative to open source and low priced cart software. It is probably a good idea to take your customer's sales and traffic projections into account when you offer them alternatives. There are other carts that can handle a good deal of traffic that cost less than Miva both in software and hosting fees. You may want to offer some additional choices to them so they have a range of prices and features to choose from. JMHO.
