Chicken 06-23-2002, 06:10 PM You get a few people who think that the .net is better, but they are wrong :D -seriously, if both are availabe, at least pick up the .com as the .com is the 800# of domains. It is akin to asking, if the 800# and the 877# are both available, which would you get? hostjet 06-23-2002, 06:12 PM goes without saying, get the .com, people naturally type the .com extension in. If you only get the .net, once you become popular, someone is going to come along and register the .com and get a whole lot of free traffic from you. astralexis 06-23-2002, 06:13 PM I just got myself a .com, the .net was already taken... DotComster 06-23-2002, 07:20 PM Dot Com all they way - but dot nets are also required if you plan to make it a great hosting site. NixHosting 06-23-2002, 07:45 PM I'd say .com all the way Synthetic 06-23-2002, 09:51 PM Without a doubt, the .COM! blah 06-23-2002, 10:05 PM People usually go to the .com's first... so yes, the COM :D freehtml 06-23-2002, 10:44 PM i get my domain with .com 1st and later follow by .net and .org VoxKeysGtr 06-23-2002, 11:35 PM If you're serious about it, might as well get both. Avoid future problems. I remember a thread around here, where someone was complaining about somone else taking the .net version of their company name. You can avoid that type of situation and get 'em both...:) Plus, buying domains is fun! The more the merrier, I always say... :D markblair 06-24-2002, 12:00 AM Both. I voted for .com even though my site is using .net. When I first registered the company domain, .com was taken but had nothing to do with what my company does. I became very lucky one day when I did a whois search on the .com domain and it was available. I grabbed it in a second but haven't changed anything over because we advertised as the .net name. Regardless, if you type either one, you get the same web site. iamdave 06-24-2002, 06:12 AM ".com" received my vote. roly 06-24-2002, 06:41 AM .com Angel78 06-24-2002, 07:16 AM well it depends, if you like own baskteball.net, soccer.net whateversport.net, than you can sort of build .NET brand for sport sites, so it isnt always the .com thing :) Abu Mami 06-25-2002, 02:10 AM .com all the way. But get both in order to protect your name. |
