View Full Version : Signups: Real-Time or Batch?

Regarding new signups, I'm looking for opinions on whether I should process cards in real-time, or handle them all in Batch and process them at a later time. Fraud is the main concern, and I'm not sure if I'm safe handling real-time billing for new accounts. What as been your experience?

Thanks,

Brian

Unless you have a number of real-time fraud prevention measures in place that work well, I would advise against going with real-time account setup & billing of credit cards. Generally this is a fraudsters magnet.

we never do real time signups, we like to check on customers first, otherwise they can get an account, send spam upload porn etc and use up all your bandwidth and get you in trouble before you even notice

I'd side against realtime signups. I personally think it's a good idea to batch all the signups/setups together, kind of like a "to do" pile. That way you can keep a little better track of what's going on too, knowing that accounts aren't added until a specific time (probably lowest load time) so you don't really affect much. Just my opinion though.
