We just received a mailing from GlobalPayments/goemerchant.com today informing us that they are closing our account "evaluating such elements as the type of merchandise sold/services rendered, sales patterns, refudn patterns and chargeback propensity"
This is effective 6/30 and we got the mail today. We NEED to have another merchant account by 6/30 - can anyone recommend one that has:
AN API (so we can integrate into our order form and billing software)
Accept visa, mastercard,discover,amex
Our name appears on bill
We have our own business bank account, we are a legal Corporation with incorporation papers etc...
can anyone recommend a reliable processor that will help us?
Thanks!
bambenek 06-23-2002, 12:50 PM Well why'd they cancel your merchant account? Did you irritate alot of customers or something?
No, because chargebacks from out of the US customers... we never had a customer refuse to pay, we've only had stolen cards but that is expected...

They only accept 2 credit cards :(
Phew. Thank GOD!
It turns out that GlobalPayments canceled the accounts of all Goemerchant.com customers (About 500-600 of us) using one of their special programs. Goemerchant is sending out an email today to all the customers and we should be up and running again by Tuesday - they will start to use thebancor as their credit card processor. I was flipping out. It turns out that we did nothing wrong :)
SideNote: GlobalPayments is withholding all funds charged by customers since the 18th and GoEMerchant is filing a court injunction to get GlobalPayments to release all the $ right away.
Hope this clears up things for anyone using goemerchant.com (who we highly recommend, and has a great api!)
beley 06-23-2002, 01:57 PM I've heard good things about 2Checkout (www.2checkout.com) and I personally use Revecom (www.revecom.com) but they don't easily integrate into your design.
SimonUS 06-23-2002, 02:44 PM 2Checkout.com has a great service that works out fine for hosting companies that are starting out. The charges are one of the lowest around and they have support people that help you out when needed.
Check 'em out and see for yourself.
Thanks all for your help :) again, goemerchant is switching to a new processor so we are not in need of a new provider anymore. Thanks
Again, for those looking i recommend goemerchant.com - tell em Avi Brender sent you :)

When I was searching for a merchant account 2 years ago for my business I looked at them. Well I never got an account with them. Still until this day I receive freaking emails from them. I've tried unsubscribing and stuff thousands of times. They just keep coming. Hate them with a passion.

Oh my god, that site is ugly :)
I'm sorry to hear that. Well we're stickin with em, we can accept credit cards from Visa, Amex, Disc, Mastercard, have our name on the cc bill, they have an easy to use api that we integrate into our orderform and billing software plus their rates are decent.
okihost 06-23-2002, 03:34 PM I would say check out 2checkout.com I just got an email today stating I think they started taking diners card or something also.. i think they brings them up to 5 cards including the major ones..
We also had our account cancelled. According to inside sources at Global payment services, "Goemerchant did not meet some requirements". We are also incorporated and our corporation has been in business for almost 5 years with excellent credit history and 2 chargebacks in one year.
Even though Goemerchant stated that they will switch us to another bank, we are taking precautions and obtaining another merchant account with another processor.
For those of you that don't know, Revecom and 2checkout are 3rd party payment processors, they are essentially the merchant, therefore you don't have the same flexibility and their rates are about 2, 3 and even 4 times more than when you have your own merchant account. ;)
