View Full Version : Cheap SSl Certificates
tomyknoker 12-02-2006, 07:42 AM Hi guys,
GoDaddy sells SSL certificates for $15.95 seems great! Are they reliable? Are there any better than this, or is this a great deal and I shouldn't question it?
franksredhot 12-02-2006, 11:06 AM I think most certs work the same. I fail to understand why some companies page verisign 700 a year for an SSL cert
atmike 12-02-2006, 11:09 AM as far as I could find out Godaddy is one of the cheapast. You could lower that price with trying to use a coupon from http://www.dealtaker.com/GoDaddy-coupon-code-a528-c.html
(I'm not affiliated with this site, so don't worry)
I could always lower my shoppings at godaddy with the coupons. otherwise give google a try ;-)
blockcipher 12-02-2006, 01:27 PM I always buy mine from EV1

14,95$ ... mhmm.... for 1 year it says, and thereafter ? looks like just a special offer for me cause rapidssl.com (formerly freessl.com) charges 69$ for the same and they seem to use rapidssl.com for that..
blockcipher 12-02-2006, 01:37 PM Ya, EV1 just resells for them. I have been using SSL certs from EV1 for a couple years now. I haven't heard from any users that they don't work. They sell other ones for more money, but I honestly don't know the difference. Why change when there is no problem :)
I know there are some threads on WHT that explains the lowcost compared to high cost SSL certs.
tomyknoker 12-02-2006, 08:47 PM This looks pretty good http://www.enom.com/resellers/promotions.asp $10!

I find Godaddy extremely reliable when it comes to their domains

sunray69 12-06-2006, 02:52 AM Visit www.resellerclub.com (http://www.resellerclub.com), they actually have a contract with Thawte and sell Thawte certificates 4 to 5 times cheaper than on thawte web site!

enjoy! They are the cheapest domains I've seen! Wow good one t39! So is it just $100 to join up?
Adam-AEC 12-07-2006, 04:12 PM I just bought a few SSL certificates from Namecheap. I think they were $13.98 or so.
Easier to install than GoDaddy, since there was no chain certificate involved.
devonblzx 12-07-2006, 04:46 PM Is there anything wrong with certificates generated by OpenSSL? I mean if you run your own web site on your own box is there a need to buy a certificate?
