View Full Version : summer time sales trends...
ThePrimeHost 06-23-2002, 11:53 AM Hello All,
Well, I've been in this business for over a year now and I've noticed an interesting trend: In the summer time, our business has the heaviest slowdown, do to summer vacations, trips etc..... This appears to be true for ISP support as well.
However, in the last few weeks sales have really picked back up to the winter/fall level during the weekdays (The weekends are still slow...not that I mind :D )
Anyone experiencing this trend of business?
HostInspect 06-23-2002, 12:10 PM Well as far weekends go. Yes they are slow.
But the days that kick in are weekdays :)
tazd9t9 06-23-2002, 03:05 PM I have noticed when analysing my site stats for my hosting site, a travel site, a central heating site and a couple of others that Fridays and saturdays seem to be the slowest hit wise, sundays are slightly higher.
Tuesdays seem to be our businest days

If i didn't no better with our business i would have agreed totally with that. However, 5 years in business and the top 3 months EVERY YEAR ? June, July, August. Weird.
ThePrimeHost 06-23-2002, 05:59 PM Where are you located Fishface?

Exactly... and we're not the only ones. A few other people I've spoken to all say the same thing. It's odd but true. I recently likened it to those large flocks of birds you see flying. They all fly together, then one changes direction. Instantly they all change, and fly the same way.
A month or two ago it was pretty slow, but the past fortnight has seen some pretty nice numbers.

ThePrimeHost 06-24-2002, 05:51 PM Perhaps I spoke too soon. No sales so far today...Oh well, when it rains it poors (Either direction the sales go).
:D

Now that two of you have mentioned it ... the folks in my office were talking about this the other day. We have had a large increase in both connection requests (dial-up, broadband) and hosting. Though I am fairly new to the industry, a reversal of previous trends. We are in Washington state, USA... rather interesting.
Jeremy W. 06-24-2002, 07:01 PM Well, we only opened our doors 10 days ago and have already signed 2K worth of business. Not amazing, but not bad for a brand new xNix host. We'll be turning a profit by the end of the month.
Rotifer 06-24-2002, 07:15 PM Cool, congratulations. It's nice to hear good news.
NixHosting 06-24-2002, 07:18 PM Damn I been open since January and I'm just starting to clear server costs
Jeremy W. 06-24-2002, 07:39 PM Well, I mean we'll be hitting our "watershed" line by the end of the summer where we'll need to either upgrade or get a second server. It's the reason I'm looking at H-Sphere is because we may actually get a Windows box instead.
All of our customers always say they come to us because we are "real" and honest with them :)
sHosts 06-24-2002, 11:00 PM I can have my summer break in Sunny FL. Glad I live here..theme parks, surfing @ beach, sun... priceless=)
tazd9t9 06-25-2002, 06:48 AM Are there any sites out there which analyse some of these stats, show sales trends tec?
There was a post the other day on some facts and figures but i could do with some more.
