SWsoft are now placing adverts for their (and affiliates) products inside their PAID products!

http://forum.swsoft.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=38274

It's just one slap in the face after another with this company

PLEASE, someone with the capital, buy out SWsoft and fire the management! No understanding of customer service or business ethics.

Posting a control panel related thread in the control panel forum has hopefully notified others, thinking of purchasing or upgrading Plesk, that SWsoft are now feeding adverts to their clients.

It's also opened it up for discussion :)

Thank you as well. We use Plesk and like the product. Unfortunatly SWSoft is an outfit that has fallen in love with itself and has forgotten who put them where they are tooday. I dont respect their methods at all. And we have been using Plesk since Verion 2.

Well, this is the first time they have done something this bad. The little things before weren't bad.

I have a feeling though it will be gone by the end of the week. To many people angry over it.

I must say...I hate Plesk! I had Plesk 8 on my Dedicated sever up 'til just over a month ago. I use cPanel now and will never use another control panel again! I do not like the idea that they charge you by the amount of domains you use, much easier having unlimited domain space :)

So? For unlimited domains in Plesk it runs about the same cost as cPanel, actually less if you are "Buying" the license instead of leasing it, and that even includes the cost for Fantastico in that figure.

Plesk simply offers more "Purchase" options than cPanel, many more.

Your basis for your claim of hating Plesk is actually pretty stupid, considering it means you don't understand the optoins available in purchase and you failed to note that Plesk has an unlimited domains option.

Not everyone need unlimited domains. You can get a 10 domains Plesk for $99 ($25 annual renewal) and run that pretty well on a server if you only intend to host like 1 or 2 domains. cP is only cost effective if you have hundreds of hosted domains, under any other circumstances, Plesk's licensing structure benefit the customer more with flexible scaling.

I just spoke to SWsoft and they are correcting the issue. I'll give them the benefit of not thinking this one through... Apparently its easily corrected. I do think the knee jerk reactions to the mistake are a little over the top.

Actually someone stated it right in saying if we didn't react they would have just kept doing it.

As is they are correcting it and no it won't go over next time and the reaction this time will keep them from not only attempting it in any way again, but also checking to make sure nothing close to it happens again.

Agree, we paid good money for the damm thing, it's already bad enough there's plenty of bugs in it that it doesn't always work like I'd like it to, advertisements is like the anvil the broke the camel's back.

Interesting... I have the windows version of Plesk and haven't had the pleasure of this upgrade yet.. but now that I know this I am not looking forward to it.

I don't mind if they put ads in, but there absolutely MUST be a way to turn them off. Otherwise that is just horrible business on their part. They need to fix this and fast.

What's next, Windows Vista will ship with spam toolbars preloaded in IE7? :(

It will be gone in a hot fix this week. I have had 4 or 5 SWSoft employees tell me it was a mistake.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if it's all removed.

Of course the SWsoft employees know it was a mistake.......now, after all the complaints. They knew what they were doing. They can't tell me it was unplanned, they've been adding adverts for the past few releases. All the testing and screen shot creation and no SWsoft employee noticed it? Yeh right.

Thanks to everyone who's contacted SWsoft to complain :) If you haven't done so yet, it's still worth contacting them otherwise it'll happen again, until we stop complaining.

Then tell me why I had one of there top support reps with me on ICQ trying to tell me how I could turn it off right now?

We went back and forth and when she realized I couldn't turn it off she proceeded to have me update a ticket so that she could get it fixed.

Aside from that our sales rep said it would be fixed the next morning.

Basically there was supposed to be ways to turn this off via the License Key from the initial release.

If that's the case then it's yet another example of SWsoft releasing buggy untested software!

KNL-BSW

Compared with other control panels I know, this bug and many of the other bugs from SW-Soft in the past haven't affected the Stability of the server.

Every piece of software has bugs, you can't deny that. If they had no bugs we wouldn't see updates for so many of them.

And it is tested, by users just like you and me. But it's very common for someone to simply "Expect" something to happen and never tell someone or consider it a bug, because they expect it to not be there.

I'm a big fan of Plesk (minus ads), but it's just one bad move after another when it comes to SWsoft and customer service. They constantly make you feel worthless to them. Horrendous business ethics.

Plesk was well tested, amazingly stable and bug free before SWsoft took over. It's steadily going downhill since then.

I only hope the advertising are displayed correctly ? Bugs free ?

From what I've heard 8.1 is pretty much bug free. I don't think real "Bugs" are the issue with 8.1, just the advertising.

Which, no matter what people want to say, isn't a bug.
