I'm looking for a quick way to make about $800 or more before July 15th, and a friend said I should post here about it -- I'm not one to ask publically, but I dont exactly have people knocking down my door to pay me for designing something.

I have way too many skills to not be working for some major design company ... but anyway...
my "corporate site" -- the group I mainly work with (Win and Mac basic programming) is at this address (http://www.roogroup.com), as you can see, that looks nice... so people say.

if you'd like a site that nice, let me know. I dont use frontpage or any other lame wysiwyg editors, I do it all by hand. Photoshop is what I use for graphics - nothing else. occasionally I'll use bryce to render something in 3d (I like the way bryce renders...). I know HTML, Javascript, CSS2 and a little PHP/MySQL.

check out the site above to see my work in action... its the only one I've finished lately -- any other sites I've made have been done quickly without thinking... so they stink.

if you're interested in a well done site with really REALLY nifty neato graphics (totally original, not stock photography or anything like that), and an original layout -- and you dont mind spending some money (not neccessarily $800 -- thats just what I need to make total), please contact me (saturn at roogroup dot com) and we can discuss it :]

thanks.

Haha funny ;) Your site is very nicely designed. I will look into using you as a designer for our site.

Not all done by hand but it looks nice. Not using an editor is just slow now adays as it takes forever and there nothing to be ashamed of for using a good tool like Dreamweaver. Frontpage does suck though. I like the site. Nice colors. :)

Good looking site right there. Although I don't agree with wysiwyg tools as lame. Perhaps, what you mean is people who create web sites using visual editors and not understanding the code behind it is, well, "lame". I used to do everything by hand too, but now I can get the work done in less than half the time when I hand code it.

Yes, Frontpage is only for those who are stuck with it.

not saying you are lame, the programs are lame

they're poorly written, and the code they generate isnt standard code, and often contains proprietary tags, and useless chunks of data for the program.. and never-before-seen meta tags

hand-coding makes better code ... its easier to read (since you actually,... wrote it), and it doesnt eat up unnecessary space (see above paragraph)

just because you choose to use frontpage or other things like that doesnt mean you're lame ... but I think it can always be done better by hand (maybe thats just the graphic design part of me talking)

I disagree 100%. There is no substitute for tools that actaully help. I dont want to get into a debate but using a tool can not only save you time but help you learn. Im sure we all used to do things by hand but then realized/smartened up and now do things the fast way by using a tool. Why wouldnt you? It just makes more sense to have help and save time but I can see how some prefer handcoded documents. I am the same way as I have a Linux background. Good luck in your designing.

its the same way some people prefer push mowers over gas powered (or electonic O_o) ones... not that its "better" really, I just prefer it -- and in that sense, it is better (for me at least)

if there were a tool that could automate the things I do by hand and make it easier and less time consuming, without eating up 3 times the amount of space, I'd use it... but I'm all for quick-loading easy to see and easy to navigate websites. graphically intense ones look nice and all, but they load slowly and dont look nice on all browsers (though, I use PNGs on my site sometimes, and IE 5.0 for Windows and older Netscape browsers dont fully support PNG... they do load though -- it just looks like it has a grey BG around it)

side note about my site: try viewing it using Opera or Mozilla if you're on Windows, as IE doesnt properly render PNGs

I can also do package design ... etc.
check out the site (http://www.roogroup.com) now to see -- theres a box above the skyscape feature...
did that kinda quick using photoshop and bryce...

I know it's plain, but clients dig plain -- its mysterious and gets the end user thinking "WHATS IN THE BOX???!" ... yeah

another web design work:

physical design (polymer {plastic} currency for the United States Treasury Bureau of Engraving and Printing)

comparison to current 5 dollar note (paper):

I dont have copies of the currency anymore ... or else I'd take better photos.
