I was wondering if it's possible to collect a cutomer's SS# securely in a shared hosting environment. The kind of business I am starting requires me to collect that info as I have to file info with the states for individual using their SS#. If I use SSL https: and collect the info on a form and email it to myself then the email isn't secure - should I tell them to fax me the info or call over the phone for it? I've heard of PGP email encryption but I doubt the webhosts offer it.
Any advice would be appreciated.
