View Full Version : Win2k... a few possibles
After being with NodeHosting for several months, I'm starting to be less and less happy with their service... lots of downtimes, features that don't work, mix-ups, complications, etc. some of that can be expected for Win2K hosting i guess but i think that the current state of things is a bit extreme.
anyways, i'm looking around tentatively for new hosts...
the two that i've seen so far that look good are rochen and gearhost.
so, i guess i'm looking for impressions on both...
i heard that gearhost had some problems earlier, with credit card stuff, etc, but i took a look around WHT and i didn't see many recent complaints, and a lot of "go for it"s.
I need SQL Server & the .NET framework, and to be able to host 3+ full domains, so that axes most hosts.

eddy2099 06-21-2002, 08:21 PM Skie,
I know what you mean. Well, I try to contact Nodehosting support for quite a while by submitting help tickets and emails but have not gotten any responses from them. Prior to that, they did mention that very evening they will move my site to a new server but that was not done. It was about 2 weeks ago. That was the last email response which I got from them.
Because uptime is important to me, I decided to move my site out to Rochen and have been pretty happy about the move. The uptime and Support Responses is tons better.
I did submit an account cancellation for my account at Nodehosting but have not heard from them since a week ago.
I sure hope that it is not another web host going under. I think an official explanation for the non-support would definitely be appreciate rather than to stop responding when they cannot find a solution.
Edwin
have you tried to contact them via AIM?
i haven't tried cancelling yet, i'm still not sure if i'm gonna switch or not, but knowing that you switched to rochen fine is good encouragement.

Well, I tried their Online Support Chat, ICQ, IRC, Email and HelpDesk to try to contact them.
Typically, they have not been online on any of those. They use to respond to emails quite regularly.
Have you tried contacting them lately ?
Eddy
i tried a few days ago and today.... nada.

RyanK 06-22-2002, 11:23 AM Well I hope I'm not pushing ourselves in here but I can't get to rochen.com for that past hour. I didn't check from the backbone ... is it just me?
EDIT:
Looks like their just a provider through wholesalecolo but they seem to be up and running.
ADEhost 06-22-2002, 12:31 PM well Rochen.com is working for me, so I don't think Chris firm is down.
Also, I think Chris's firm is one of the 2 true top service competitors in the Win Hosting side of the business. Very few people are at the same level of customer service as myself and I include Chris as one of them. I know we but head to head on the forum all the time for the simular type client.
He's Hosting Controler platform I'm H-sphere platform. Besides that he has most of the ASP components out thier from what I'm aware of. ( hey Chris, note that I do my homework on all the competitors :D )
Mike
well, right now its who replies to my sales request first... neither as of yet = /
NodeHost 06-22-2002, 10:48 PM Well Skie,
I am back in the office now, and looking into you numerous tickets. I am sorry about everything and will get this straight and fast for you. Things were completely against my goals and morals while I was out, and that is to be addressed very fast.
I will keep you updated via your tickets and will get this problem gone and over with. Sorry about your problems with my company, it is not how I do business, nor do I train my people to do business.

Did you submit the sales question to us? As of yet we don't appear to have received any pre sales questions from you.
Also, our site has been up 100%, so I am not to sure why RyanK couldn't get to it. Also Ryan, rochen.com is hosted at Ventures Online, just as a backup :D
i used the form on your site @
http://www.rochenhost.com/html/index.php?zone=contact
I got a reply from gearhost with a decent deal. still quite a bit more expensive than NodeHosting is right now though, and the servers back up (at least for now..) but if its down again i think i'm gonna make the switch.
Rochen 06-23-2002, 06:29 PM Can you please send us the sales email again. We just discovered a problem about 10 minutes ago, the catch all account for the domain "rochen.com" had 78,000 spam emails in it. Using up all the account quota, we therefore didn't receive any sales emails from the last few hours. If you send your message again you will be given a prompt response. This problem didn't effect any technical support related issues as they are all handled via our help desk.
Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
