View Full Version : Admin for dedicated servers

I know some companies don't do managed servers, well, some of them anyways. The company I work for doesn't, and I was trying to think of a way to somehow get these customers the support they need although we won't/don't do it for them. I got bored and setup [my own site] (it's not complete/final/good, it's just something to say, "Hey, go here!"), but I did it because I wasn't able to find anyone else to point people to. I don't really have the time to operate something like that, and www.bobcares.com is the only other company that does, that I've found.

I guess my question is, does anyone know a company that specializes in *just* administration/managing servers, or offering support such as www.bobcares.com <edit>

Anything would help, as I can't legally forward clients to my site, so I'll try to find someone that'll do a quality job.

That's quite a good idea I think... it might be a better idea to get some admins together to offer the services. It could get quite popular as people do get desperate and will pay to get a problem solved.

You also need to get a PHP/MySQL system sorted, so it's custom made to track projects and so you can track the amount a job has cost, with one-to-one interaction between the customer and the admin assigned to the job.

Lol, I've now got like a full idea and plan for rentanadmin.com, it's just such a good idea :), but I'll let you get on with it, as I don't think I actually answered your question... there is one place you could try... http://www.supportex.net/.

Thanks ho247, I may start forwarding people to them as they do look decent. I guess I better not mention my site's name, but I was a bit disappointed in the number of companies that offer the services "my company" or "me and my buds" can/do.

If anyone else knows any other companies that offer these services, please let me know!

I can recommend a good contract sysadmin to you by the name of Stuart Low. Drop him a line at new@perlboy.org if you have any questions of him.

I may end up contacting him. I was kind of hoping for more structured companies.

Thanks!

Hey,

You could also try to contact GetSupportNow

Another idea is making your own "bobcares" type company and empolying acouple of people to provide a 24/7 staffed helpdesk. Get a 1-900 number and your good to go :)

I happen to work for Supportex.Net :)

We do not provide customer support for virtual hosting accounts like bobcares.com

We only do Linux & FreeBSD dedicated servers administering/support/security and related stuff.

Please drop me a line at info@supportex.net if you need more information, references etc.

Dmitry.

Thanks guys. I'll see which works out the best and start forwarding some of our Cobalt and RedHat customers your way when they need extra stuff.
