Some certs provide a higher level of browser compatibility - if you need to be compatible with the 3.0 versions of IE and Netscape. Some certs authenticate a company more rigorously than others - if that's important to you. What constitutes best to you? In the domain registration recommendations on this forum, "best" usually means cheapest with no regard to support. If cheapest is best to you, than InstantSSL or Rackshack's QuickSSL is probably the winner. -t ScottD 06-21-2002, 09:48 AM Thawte certificates offer the highest compatibility right behind Verisign, but honestly I think the best deal is had through www.ssl4less.com who resells GeoTrust True Site certificates which are compatible with more browsers than the QuickSSL certificates that RackShack offers or the Instant SSL certificates. I'm not sure on compatibility, but most people using these browsers would be far behind the technologies used on todays website (todays e-commerce site) CSS springs to mind as definitely lacking in support, I'm not entirely sure about some Javascript either. I thought Geotrust can't issue using Thawte signed root after 10th june 2002 because it expired on 10th June 2003!? They have now fully reverted to Equifax root key, which I believe is the same as instantssl. www.giointernet.com |
