APEXware 06-21-2002, 04:25 AM I don't have any actual name suggestions, but when it comes to choosing your domain name, I'd get one that at least had the .com available. If someone was to hear about 'whateverhosting' they would first probably type 'whateverhosting.com' and if your domain was .net, they may end up at the .com domain and not know any better. We've got apexware.com and .net and both point to the same site. Got any suggestions? ;) You can have MultipleDomainHost.com for a price ;) <j/k> :D d3fuse 06-21-2002, 04:50 AM Yea, I am getting both the dot.com and dot.net domains. If they are available. I just need a name... roly 06-21-2002, 06:24 AM LameNameHosting mlovick 06-21-2002, 06:59 AM How about YETANOTHERWEBHOST.com :D I think that most startup's look for a good domain name and then call their company that these days. A few years ago, it was the other way around. But now, ALL the good names are taken and you have to settle with what you can get, or pay a silly amount for one of the majority of names that are beign held by cybersquaters. DotComster 06-21-2002, 07:10 AM I suggest you try www.LocalWhoIs.com - they are free and if you can afford the time they have the domains. Just take the trouble to look up their search methods. thomas830 06-21-2002, 07:22 AM maybe NotAnotherTeenHost.com :) Thomas ToastyX 06-21-2002, 07:37 AM Considering that your user name is d3fuse, how about D3 Networks? Sometimes something simple works very well. Looks like d3n.com is available, although d3n.net is taken. xerocity.com 06-21-2002, 03:57 PM Originally posted by ToastyX Considering that your user name is d3fuse, how about D3 Networks? It's a good 3letter .com that could actually stand for something related to you. Go with D3 Networks. Good find ToastyX. d3fuse 06-21-2002, 05:02 PM Hmm, not a bad idea. I could most likely think of something for it. EzSnake 06-22-2002, 10:30 AM I like that d3 networks.. I'm in the same dilema d3fuse.. I'm thinkin along lines of name havin a "techie feel" and also something that signifies im not really in market of general masses, but rather than I would like to cater to web designers etc etc.. I was gonna use ESRTech however it's taken , so my lil support site needs some fixing ( http://esrtech.rcs7.com ) jsut pre-launch test host. I was also startin to consider soemthing about local area to get more local business's (but not sure its really needed for that). Just some more aspets u may wanna look at. ;) Anyone hav any ideas for me... shoot it at me!!! Hell if its real good, I'll prolly give u some kinda "consulting fee" for it :D d3fuse 06-22-2002, 12:55 PM Yea, I'll probably go with 'D3 Networks'. I'm not heading for the general huge business hosting ordeal at the moment. Mainly hosting small - medium size business web sites and other web sites. I'm going to advertise, locally, and see how that goes before I advertise on the net. |
