I am just curious as to what your percentage is for cards run verses cards declined. Another words, 100 cards charged a day. 10 Declines. 10% declines a day.
It seems that the world is in debt. Over a three year mark we have been tracking ours, they never seem to get better, no matter what we impliment. It is always 4 - 8% per day.

I agree. We have around 3 to 4%. Paysystems.com does have a pretty good system in that if their recurring payment is declined, it sends them an email asking them to add a new credit card or deposit funds into their credit card, and then says they'll try again in 5 days time. If it is declined again, then another email is sent similar to the first email. If is is declined after the 3rd attempt, then the recurring payment is removed from the recurring database and I just email the client and ask them to setup another recurring payment.

I voted 5-6%, higher than anyone else so far. I manage to weed out fraud just fine -- never charged one, except on a third-party cc processor before I got a merchant account, and they charged automatically.
Anyway, I can't figure out why my established clients seem to have cc trouble. Some have their ccs stolen (not from me, though, I keep their info strictly offline). Others overrun their limit. Some I don't know WHAT is going on, only that their card gets declined. So what am I doing wrong that 1 in 20 cards from established customers go haywire?

Ours is worse. We are 2 out of 20. We have very few chargebacks and fraudulant orders. These are just people who are over on limits or forget to update the cards. I would love to be back at the 1-2% days. :)
