Hi,

I am trying to acquire some domainname, and when you look at the whois records, you see the text below and confused by it. What exactly does this mean? Isn't status supposed to be PENDING_DELETE if it is to be deleted? And, if it is going to be deleted, how long do you think it will take to get deleted?

Thanks.

Hi dcabbar, The Pending Delete Status is the final process before the domain name is once again available publicly. This process normally takes 5 days to complete. Hope that helps. :)

Thanks for the explanation XT22, but I was asking whether this is in PENDING_DELETE or not? Because, PENDING_DELETE is specified in the "Registrant Name" field as opposed to the STATUS field, which is INACTIVE instead of PENDING_DELETE.

We'll really need more details, preferably the domain name's full WHOIS minus the
name. Based on what I gather from the limited info posted, it's one of 2 things:

1. The domain name has expired and is waiting for Dotregistrar to either auction it
or let it go (if they'll auction it). Or:

2. The domain name has been deactivated for possible violation and scheduled for
deletion if not responded to timely by any of its contacts.

Network Solutions lists the registrant as "Pending Renewal or Deletion" if expired,
for example. But my guess is it's #1.

Below is the full record...

My guess is (1) as well, but I am trying to understand what it exactly means, and/or I should back order it? Because DotRegistrar has a pay ahead policy;) Basically you need to buy enough credits to cover backorder, and if you can not get the domain, they don't give this money back to you, and it stays in your account till it expires.
