Er... I know this is a webhosting forum but I would like to ask you tech dudes about two monitors, I don't have the specifics other than both are 17" flat screens for $99.00. I want to purchase one of them this week.

which should I go for if all details are the same... Samtron (retail 179.99 before rebate) or Compaq ($249.99 before rebates)? Should I stick with the "you get what you pay for" (normally) and the bigger name the better, go with Compaq? Any bad experiences or recommendations from personal usage of either in the monitor area??

I pick up Dell Trinitron (used) 21" monitors (its a sony trinitron CRT in a Dell casing) for around $250-275 cdn apiece. Much to my surprise, theres a few very competitive offers of such level on ebay right now (just saw one today), might want to look into that, there were a few SGI's up for sale for reasonable prices (for the type of equipment)

For a 17" go with one like this -> http://specs.emscomputing.com/cgi-bin/specs/specs.asp?pid="979393"&sid="3d1251ce001cad4a274341de46f00648"&price="$231.00" <-. Although I prefer 19" monitors myself.:)
