View Full Version : Whose DNS server to use, enom's or hostmatters?

hello,

I registered my domain with enom. And I really like enom's Dynamic DNS.

Now that i plan to use hostmatters' shared hosting,
thus I can also use its DNS server.

So whose DNS server I'd better use, enom's or hostmatters'?
Will the hosting provider's DNS server offer any advantage over the registrar's?

Thank you!

You could always use both of them for added redundancy :)

I don't think you can, far as I can think it is either you use theirs *or* you choose other ones, but I don't think you can then add theirs in there as well. Never tried that, though I don't think it works that way.

Actually Chicken I think that would work. Just have to make sure they both have the same entries.

Of course if HostMatters is down, it won't help much if the DNS still works. :D

You will not have to worry about that. The load on their servers is low (I have seen this myself), and they are super careful about not over-crowding the servers. They use the NAC in NJ, and servers by Pegasus.

I'm not saying that they could not have down-time, it's just that it has been a non-issue for 2 years.:)

However, I concede the point that it does not matter about the dns service if a host can't deliver.
