I have a question about filing a DBA with my local county clerk, well actually, several. I probably should be contacting a lawyer or the county clerk about this, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask here first.

I will be conducting business with somebody located in Iran, and they will be considered one of the higher-ups in the company if not a partner. I realize that this makes things a helluva lot more complicated for running a business, but is their name required to be on this form?

Also, the business will basically be based on the internet and at the data center. Am I also required to place the data center address under the "Address(es) where business is to be conducted or transacted in this county:" field?

Thanks! I wish conducting legal business weren't so complicated.

Be as honest as you can and fill out all the information you feel certain about. If you are actively working out of an office space or a lease at a datacenter, that would be where business is being conducted. However, if you're working out of a different office (or more likely in the case of this post, your home) that would be the address to put

I will be conducting business with somebody located in Iran, and they will be considered one of the higher-ups in the company if not a partner. You'll want to talk to a lawyer about this. Last I checked, it is illegal for a US company to knowingly do business with people from a number of countries, including Iran. See below:

Now with the Patriot Act in place, I'm sure that because you would be operating with someone from Iran, the Govt would be watching you closely.

Contact a lawyer.
