Just got some junk mail a day or so ago. It seems the BSAA (Business Software Association of Australia) is drumming up some business by tracking down illegal software. I got a single page 'ad' all in black with large red letters on it saying "DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU". A short article then goes on to tell me of their recent convictions such as two webdesign companies over here (one quoted as having to settle for more than $20 000)

Of course they'll have some slim picking on my comp *lol* Anything I haven't paid good money for is freeware. I am still looking for a decent downloader like Getright for free though.. Anyone know of one? Must be ad free though so no Go-Zilla

At any rate it's seeing stuff like the above letter that has inspired me to pass on some software scores I've discovered over the years. Some are off CD's, other's available online easy enough - all are free for personal and/or commercial use. All are programs I use so I can pretty much recommend them as a good download investment.

Examples:
Winzip, WinRAR, ACE = X-Ace(free)
Norton Anti-Virus = InoculateIT (free)
WS-FTP = Smart FTP (free)
Ulead Gif Animator = Selteco Bannermaker 3.0 (free on a CD)
Microsoft Office = 602software PC Suite
Microsoft Office = Star Office (not as good as 602 PC Suite)
AC-DC = Irfanview
Photoshop = The Gimp (free)

actually I own photoshop but someone out there may be looking for a free photo editor.

Other cool utilities include:
RAMpage - great for freeing up RAM
The Font Thing - best font viewer there is.
Hi Verify - verifies mata tagging ans engine placement
Sam Spade - whois/trace/ping software. (very good)
Win HTTrack - good website copier program.

Enjoy :)
