Hey,
i wanted to share my experience with NOCSTER.
Yesterday about 11AM after talking with Jason I placed an order for the closeout dedicated server.

The server:
P3 800MHZ, 256RAM, 20GB HDD

The server was ready about 8PM, just like they told me. Very quick set-up...

For the first time I logged in about 5AM and tested it. The server is a little different - it is Celeron 1000Mhz. Everything was working okay so I decided to move one of my web site. I created account and it was nice :)

I did some traceroutes and first weird thing: the traceroute never showed cogent, routing always was directed through ATT, ALTER.NET, SPRINT ...

IP address of the server is 64.191.7.107

Okay, now I wanted to set up another account and my server is down

At 6:18PM i sent email to support (I wanted to talk to someone on AIM but there was no one)

8PM - the server is still down :(

I hope they didn't disconnect the server without talking to me...

Okay, this is my experience with NOCSTER so far ...

I'm in the Nocster data center also and haven't had any downtime. Was this due to an error on your part? Cause from my end my server been fine as far as connection.

You don't see Cogent yet because it appears that they do not have Cogent nor Qwest turned up yet.

Interesting. I wonder why? Are they going to use the "good" bandwidth until they get enough clients, and then switch them to the "OK" bandwidth, hoping clients won't notice?

Well if you read a few posts above, the cogent and qwest lines have not been turned up, so they are using the regular burstnet lines. The whole premise of nocster was to offer a cheaper managed solutions with cheaper bandwidth (cogent) for people who are unsure about administrating a server. The clients are made aware of this and if you went to their website you will see The NOCSTER network in our Network Operations Center is connected via Verizon™ & CTSI™ OC192 fiber, with Metro Fast Ethernet 100mbps drops from both Qwest™ and Cogent™

so they are not hiding anything, you just didn't look in the right place ;)

i have had my nocster server online for over a week now. (testing things) so far everything is VERY smooth. outside of a bit of latency, i have had absolutely 0 problems with setup, running, etc, the server since it was put online.

i feel confident that this was an isolated incident and that nocster is a quality operation. (based on my experience thus far)

VIPsNet: hope everything stablizes for you!

my setup time so far:

7:47pm GMT Thursday.......10:10am GMT Saturday still no word. :bawling:

Was told it might be Friday 'night' (whether that's CDT or not, the night has gone) before they got it up.

I suppose I don't mind....but I did have plans to do some coding work with the server, and I'm guessing at the very least I'm going to lose Saturday day to time zone differences.

 :o

Hopefully I'll be able to report back with a glowing report of how well the server is set up :)
