WOW! What a stressfull day :(

I have a client who needs 3 dedicated boxes - 2 for DNS, 1 for plesk type stuff.

Been looking high and low for the past 12 hours :(

We have found one host already for one box (thanks to Jeff@serverhost)

Now! e-servers are completly dry untill 1st of July - which in turn means tranxact are too

I have been pondering getting a serverbeach boxen - but I really doubt they would do a FreeBSD install :(

So here is a question I pose to you - what other hosts (other than e-servers, transxact and serverbeach) supply large amounts of bandwidth for cheap and will do me a FreeBSD box - within 24 hours, dedicated only?

And has anyone had any luck with serverbeach doing custom configs?

oh and do you know anyone who would sell a plesk license for less than $389/unlimited?

Too expensive (im looking down the $99 - $120 mark) plus I dont really want something from burst (just my first dealings with them turned me off a bit)

I normally don't disagree with you but in this case you are wrong

RackSack is not giving FreeBSD... besides the fact that they are not recommendable at all :(

Just to clarify my statement of 'already have a rackshack server, why would I want another?'

That was not to say I dont recommend rackshack or anything like that.

I make a point to try as many providers as possible before my business expands - so I know right away who to use and who to steer clear from.

Now, in saying that. I really have alot of respect for rackshack - since their CEO takes a highly active interest in what his customers have to say and is totally approachable. I would really like to see rackspace and the likes do this :)

On the other hand - I would not trust my mission critical data with rackshack - and that is not because of their support, i think their network is great and the servers are decent too. The ONLY reason I would not host customers on a rackshack box is simply because of the 'rougue' behaviour shown toward AUP violators and possible AUP violators.

I personally couldn't afford to have my server taken offline for an 'investigation' into something which may really not be a big deal.

I have experienced first hand (from a server I administer - not my own) how this is dealed with, and the immediate cancellation of a server - without the chance to grab any data from it gets me on edge.

With respect to their customer support - I have found they are quite responsive on IRC to their customers, and really do feel sorry for them with the amount of newbies they have to deal with.

I have never submitted a support ticket - so I dont know how good or bad they are.

I am a firm believer in giving everybody a chance and untill I can rest easy that my servers won't get unplugged without warning - I would indeed cash in my other 10 servers and go with them (maybe not - but if they had FreeBSD i would!)

No need to bash hosts - its bullsh1t - i try only to speak the truth, and often wait till i 'get over' an issue with a company before I write anything about them.

Have a good one!
